Headlights.. Problem!!

Im not quite sure if it's the headlights or not... Problem is, Frequently when switching from high beam to low the headlights go out But, when i switch back to high then low again, the low beams are working just fine?? Oh yeah and the high beams work fine all the time, I just can't stand bright-lighting people constantly. ..My first guess is that it has something to do with the combo switch, I have an extra one so i'll try it out if you all believe that could be the prob. Thanks!

two things, first is were in TN do you live? second i'd check your wiring on the light. or try another light and try it over and over again. heck could be a defective lite.

Combo switch, mine does the same thing and I've ohmed out the wiring and checked voltages and this and that. If its both lights doin it its yer switch. Check the service manual on Pauls site thers a complete checkout for the switch in the body electrical section

Yeah im sure it's the switch.. Just checked all the wires and went for a ride on the backroads switching the headlights from high, low, high, low.. Finally, low beams stop working then after switching to high back to low they were on again. Guess i'll put the other combo-switch in the car, Hopefully it'll work. Btw.. Im in Kingsport/Church Hill, TN

Well, I fixed the lights.. Here's how i done it, First i removed the combo switch, once removed i took out the part that controls the signals, high low beam and to turn the lights on.. It's held in by two screws and clips at top and bottom..

Thats it, Put everything back toghether opposite of disassemble

how do i begin to remove the combo switch? do i take off teh honda emblem on the steer wheel?

You have to remove the steering wheel to get that switch out.

There is 4 screws in the back of steering wheel that will remove the horn pad (piece with Honda emblem on it). When that is loose disconnect the wiring plug, and remove pad.

Then remove the nut that you will see and pull off the steering wheel. Mark the position so when you reinstall the steering wheel it will line up to where it was.

Once the wheel is off you might have to take off the upper and lower column covers. Then look for the switch mounting screws and remove them. Then pull switch assembly off the shaft.

Hey man.. Hopefully it works for you as well. It feels so good to switch from high to low beam with no worries! :D ...Btw, I forgot to add that when you are removing the piece from the switch housing the slider for the signals isn't secured so it will fall out if you aren't careful.. Jus' thought i'd warn ya sence you'll more than likely have no idea where it went, Atleast i didn't untill i worked with it a bit. ..Come to think of it, I'll feel pretty bummed out if you go through all the work and you're lights are still FUBaR :( .

lol well if you had the same problem as me(lights going out and for a while i could only use high beams then they both went out) then it shoudl work if not im really well F**** so i hope it works and thanks for the idea to do that.

My switch arm has been broken for so long I kinda know what you mean. I will be driving at night then hit a bump and the lights will go out. And I always have to make sure to shake it just right to be certin my lights are off when I leave my car.

yea man, i had an odd problem too...my right low beams didn't work and my left high beams didn't work....so after reading this thread i fuckin swapped some fuses and at least i got my high beams to work now

heh yeah i got my highbeams and thats it so far. i couldnt get that panel off to get to the switch after i removed the steering wheel. i think my screw driver was to short.

Pull the left arm toward the steering wheel until it clicks. Then repeat to turn them off.
