Ok Guys I just got off the phone with Gordon at Koni and all they have left is 5, yes thats right 5 left side fronts for our cars. Thats it, totally out of front right and totally out of rears. The info that tire rack had according to Gordon, who knows better than tire rack is incorrect. I told him tire rack is showing a due in date for reard as late Oct and a special order status on both fronts and he flat out told me"not going to happen, theres no way they are getting anymore because there are no more" So if you haven't gotten them, good luck. Sorry guys hate to be the bearer of bad news:(

Truly a sad day in 3Geez history to hear that news. I guess now we'll all have to pool our efforts and try and convince another strut manufacturer to begin production on these. Either that, or this means many hours at the j/y comparing 3G struts to those from different cars and figuring out donor applications.

It's been said before, and I'll say it again, AGX's would be a great accomplishment for the 3G. Only time will tell....

But yeah, we have been aware of it for awhile. The nightmares have once again recrudesced, oh the horror... :sadwave:

Yeah it does suck but you gotta know where they are coming from. We probably have 90% of the people that would even have slight interest in them here on this board. And if you think about how many they have sold up until the big panic a few months ago. The first person i knew that had them was Jim then i got mine because he highly recommended them and i knew a few others picked them up after but that is why they stop making parts for us. Then everyone found out they might be discontinued and they all try to buy some. Im sure they were happy to see people buying them but they knew it was because of the word "backorder" and "discontinue" that made them move so fast.

Yes I read it, we all know they were discontinued but there has been alot of confusion on the board as to what they still had for available stock, several threads have posted about different places that had them and who had them on backorder. The post was simply to let people know what was out there and kill the rumors of the "backorder" issue

How about opening the stock strut out and putting heavier weight oil in it?
Just an idea.

yes they are even at tirerack, however, to quote Jim "they are OEM replacement struts and also should only be used with car's with stock springs."

As long as the struts you use are OEM replacement, you can use the stock springs.

But never, even to save money, cut your springs.

i'm sure if i do a search i can find what springs are out there, but what is good for a 1-1.5" drop, and will kybs work ?. all my friend has them instead of stock on his cavalier, and says the ride is better..?

These Eibachs will drop you about an inch:

I purchased these Otto Racing springs for a friend a while back (Freaking Joe) and they looked really good and are not of cheap quality:

They are priced under $150 and have a 2.25 drop.

Yay my Koni's rock. I wish I had enough money at the time to get two sets though.

Jim, if enough of us band together and ask a manufacturer to produce some Koni quality struts do you think it could happen?

It's not the drop that's important, it's the spring rate. Lowering springs typically have significatly increased spring rates (stiffer) anything from 20%-200% stiffer than stock. For the Accord the KYBs have about the same damping strength as stock so almost all lowering springs, regardless of drop, will overwhelm them leaving you with a floaty, bouncy ride. If your current struts aren't working right, you may notice a difference for a while, but the stiffer springs will quickly wear them out.
