MMM! tv output is good, ive got my comp outputting to my 51cm .... so I watch my d/l'd movies now on the tv, with full surround sound.

I love my setup :

It's a 51cm tv with DVD & VCR hooked up with full surround sound, and subs. The computer is hooked up the tv and the sound system as well, but also has a second amp hooked the computer with 2 technics 2 way speakers hooked up....sounds sweet. I shit you not, it shits all over proper more expensive set ups.

dude, technics are the best. The same family friend of ours in Sydney, her hubby made two speakers with the box and built in crossovers back in like 93 or 94 and gotta tell u, u crank up as much power u want, the technics amp and the speakers would still sound great. they are damn good. but the problem here is that we do have technics in the US, but its a hella expensive, thats why we got the kenwood prologic 2 which also incorporates cd and vcr and tv into 5.1 channel where the prologic 1 uses just 3.1 surround. We paid like 500 bucks for it but its still worth it. U got a nice system on your computer man. the promlem is, i dont have that big of a S-video cable. and it sucks to get one which is like 20 bucks for like 6 feet? :burn:

Ive put my set up together over time, its got parts from different systems.

This is how it's setup :

I got a cheaop teac pro-logic amp with sub, and 5 speakers out put. The amp was originally meant to power two small 30 watts for Left and right...but currently it powers a 50w subby and two old school 3 way 100w speakers which are 20 years old, but I swear these speakers dont show their age. When I used to have my good 100w amp until it blew (god rest its soul) these bitches used to pump and the bass was the bomb!. These are Teac speakers my dad paid a grand or so for back in his youth. The system has a center speaker mounted on the tv, which I use when I watch dvd's, regular tv, etc. I have the subby behind my sofa, and I dont bother having the rears hooked up. They dont do much.

That's the primary set up, which still fucken pumps...honestly ill par it up against a brand new system, and it will do pretty well. I want to get a sony 5.1 channel amp, I can get one brand new for abotu $500AU, but that can wait.

Connected to that is the computer, DVD player, and Hi-Fi VCR. I got a no name brand dvd player which will play anything I can chuck at it, it has all its copy protection disabled and is really good quality. But it's not AS good as my old panasonic one, which I got practically a year or two after dvd was released in australia (cost about $600-$700) ...top picture quality, but wont play burnt or region encoded stuff :( I gave that one to my parents.

I got a 51cm Teac tv I bought with my first job. It was reasonably expensive (this was back when 51cm's were pricey in Australia, pre - gst) and has really good picture quality but no S-video :(
But it handles TV output from the computer pretty, colours and that come up fine...not perfect, but better than other setups ive seen. Funny thing is, I got the computer hooked to the TV via a 11 year old AV cable which is about 4m long from an old sega master system. And I havent had any problems with picture quality. I once fashioned a good video cable by using a shielded network cable, it worked fine.

I got in the computer a 4 channel sound card, 512ram but a pissy 433 celeron :( its depressing, considering a 1ghz is only about $160AU. Ill get it eventually. And as I was saying earlier, I got these 2 technics 2 ways which someone left at the back door of my appartment building, (I think it was the people moving out) so I did the right thing and shoved them in a store room, left them for a couple of days and hooked them up. They are connected to a SHerwood surround amp and they pump really nicely cranked up to the max. I havent a clue on the wattage of that amp, but it works mint. I was originally hoping to get a 3rd amp and put a couple of sattelite speakers in the corners of my room...but its a $$$ factor.

But personally if you've got the $$$ MULaaH,....just plonk it down at a specialist audiophile store and get them to do you a custom system. I got one of those about 20m from my place. Ive hang out there enough to know my stuff.

Technics is good shit...this shop near me only sells stuff like Toshiba, Loewe, and all this other european brands.

Anyways this was an automotive thread wasn't it? ;)

If yer ever in Australia though, and you may be heading down the victorian way....drop me a line. And make sure you bring some good looking chicks with ya....I need to start spreading my influence globally. :pimp:

I sound like a wanker though.
