my 94 accord lx coupe goes through a bottle of power steering fulid every other day. you could follow me by the streem of power steering fluid on the ground. the entire left side of the rack is wet with it. what could be wrong and what are some things i should look for? i know it's not a 3g but i'm sure the same concepts apply.

Probably a torn boot. If it is, you're pretty much fucked as a mechanic would want around 400 dollars to rebuild.

The boots just act as dust seals. You most likely have bad end and/or gearbox seals. I just replaced my steering rack after the same thing happened to me.

Since I opted for the shop route it cost me $500. If you have the time and talent you could do it for under $200.

end seals are likely gone ! there is a rebuild kit sold out there for Honda's !

shit. can fix just about anyhting if there's instructions wrtten down somewhere telling me how to fix it. but it's driven about 150 miles a day so the time thing would be major. i guess it'll have to wait untill i take the car off the road for the winter.

Are you sure its not just a pressure line leaking?

i really have no idea. i've never played around with power steering beofre. i just had to spend 250 bucks on a new wheel barring. i replaced the wheel barring on the other side and it was a nice easy 85 dollar repair, however when this one went it decided to eat the wheel hub as well so that kind of set me back.
