Hiya..

I recently got my first Honda, a 1986 Accord.
I am in the USA but the car was from Canada at some
point so the odometer reads in Kilometers.
When I bought it the odometer read 135200 kilometers...
yeah I know.. thats very low for that year.

Anyway... I noticed that the 3 right hand digits have some scratches on one or two numbers.
I cannot think of any way this thing could have been scratched unless it was tampered with.

Some questions... an odometer does not need to be removed to tampered with it... or does it??

Is there some other strange explination on how the scrathes could have gotten there?

Carfax report was useless because they lost track of any miles since in the US in 1999.

Thanks
Rich

Someone I'm sure has tried this on the boards.

My guess it's been at least "Tried" to be done. The real way to "adjust" it is to remove it, partially disassemble it & then re-install it. Of course I've never tried this on a Import yet, but I've done a couple Domestics (Did I just say that out loud - Er I mean I've heard it can be done this way, that's it) LOL
Maybe I should explain "WHY" now? My Car use to eat Clusters. So I got sick of spending the $$$ on new ones, therefore I bought ones from the wrecker & "adjusted" the mileage to match my old cluster before installing it.
