I am pretty sure I have found a way to get the black trim on the bumpers and doors black again. I have the most oxidized trim out there and have tried countless products, none of them having a long term good result. All of them can't change the white parts of the trim to black. I have used black shoe polish and buffed it on by hand having a great result. It has turned the semi white areas to black with one quick coat. I am going to use a very fine grade sandpaper to open the pores of the rubber up so it will absorb the polish. I will have before and after pictures for you very soon. This might be the best thing i have ever done. After some fine sanding and buffing with shoe polish my bacy bumper looks basicly new. Ive been trying everything for years to get them black and was about to paint them but one last thing and it worked. I'm just glad to save you all time and share how to do it. I used a small sanding block and be sure to sand long ways not up and down. Use some black shoe polish and rub it into the trim and let dry like wax then buff off. It might take acouple of sandings or coats but damn does it work. This is only the back for now and only took 30 minutes. I'll post the front bumper tomarrow. If there are requests for a specific angle pic just tell me and ill post it.

I would be concerned that if it didnt work in the long run you would never be able to paint it b/c of it sticking in the pours of the plastic.

I just painted mine white, same as the the color of my car. IMO it looks better that way. But black also looks good so either way is fine. But I would recommend painting it black. You will be much happier with the results.

does the shoe polish come off on you if you lean on it or anything?

I was thinking about using the black turtle wax. I use the red stuff on my car and it works great, so I'll bet the black wax would work.

that only reason that would concern me is because the red wax is on the shiney part of your car and the bumpers are not shiney so i don't know how it would look. but it can't hurt to try.

I dont understand? its shoe polish, it would come off if you wanted.

And it looks awesome I will have to try it this weekend, or some rubber stuff. My trim looks like shit,

If you rub up against it the polish doesnt come off. For the grade sand paper i dont know. I used one of those black blocks that is about 5 by 3 by 1. Tomarrow the front bumpers are going to be done. I'll post pics once i do it. By the way for the long term affect only time will tell although all of today it looks great. Haha. Any questions pm me.

Shoe polish wont come off if you want it too. For shoes the leather absorbs the polish. All you should do for the bumpers is make sure you buff off the excess.

I think I am going to have to try this this weeknd.

Does it work on the moulding piece behind the front wheel well, but in front of the door? Because that seems like it is different material than the other pieces. And mince is really, really faded.

I herd that Shoe polish comes off in a couple of washes. it works great on leather, but not hard plastic moldings.

Well try it and the trim is rubber not plastic so it is able to soak in like in leather.

Here are some pics, I deleted most before ones but you get the idea. The polish lasts for a few weeks but you will have to reapply every once in a while.
