I might have a source for custom-built high output alternators for the 3g. I have to talk to the dude about pricing but he can definitely make them and they would push at least 200 amps. This thread is to gauge interest so if this sounds like something you would want, speak up! More as it develops...

i can get rewould alts done for 150... and its 150 amp, plenty for a 1000-1500 watt system

whats with the HI- AMP Alternator kick all of a sudden????? Someone ordered one(bloodlust I think) now this is the second thread in as many days about people wanting to source them for us

Do you know if the guy will clean, and then seal with insulating material? What about re-testing before being accepted as the final product?

I had an alternator rewound by a shop for $185 a couple of years ago and the bearings failed after 3 months of slightly heavy usage and he would not warrant it since it was a custom job. But then, that was one experience. Your guy may know his stuff.
