question about magnaflow muffler

i need to get a new muffler.. and i need some help deciding... my accord is getting really old.. and don't wanna spend that much money on it... but i really need a new muffler... i just went to a muffler shop.. and they quoted me.. 180 buck.. with a new 2.25 pieping.. and a magnaflow muffler.. this magnaflow muffler.. doesn't have a tip.. and its not chrome like others... is this a good muffler? the guy said it had a nice sound and it will give me some performance increase... what do you guys think... my question is... the muffler i just described... is that a good muffler? and is the price alright? and lastly... should i forget about this muffler... and get one of them fireball style muffler? you know the one that is long and round.. not the oval shaped one.. what you guys think? people who have magnaflow mufflers... i would really appreciate your opinions... dealing with your muffler...

well me personally wont put a magnaflow on an import. its for domestics manily and 180 is way too high for the muffler. go with dynomax. buy one online. and the cherry bomb style as u described is good too. esp if u are gonna leave ur 3g.

I've never heard the sound of the magnaflow so I can't comment.
I've heard the flowmaster's and I really like how they sound. I went with the Dynomax because in the May isssue of Grassroots Motorsports mag. they tested several cat-back exhausts, including several custom made one's. They even tested the pacesetter system. They used a VW Jetta with a 1.8L motor. The pacesetter made the least power, the dynomax was the 3rd best. 2nd and 1st weren't much more powerfull and allot more expensive. As usual I tried to find the issue and can't locate it, I was reading it just yesterday.

I'm not saying the Dynomax is more powerfull then the Magnaflow, I don't know that, nobody does. BTW the dynomax made more power than a Bosal system.

I know we have guys running the magnaflow, I wish they'd offer some comments to this thread:smokin:

my cousin has a magnaflow muffler on his Eclipse. he has stock pipping and no resonator, sounds about teh same as a dynomax, maybe a little louder. sounded nice tho

check out the dynomax and magnaflow websites. I like how the magnflows are constructed, moreso than the dynomaxes. But, the sound's the thing and you'll either have to go by what's said here or ask around where you live

i want a DTM, they are 150 off the shelf and i dont know the numbers on the performance but the sound is just pure deep music. The deep sound and not those ricy bomb style ones. check out MIke, he has a tunable Aerospeed.

I've got a magnaflow on my DX and I love it. It has a real low rumble, it doesn't have that sound like your shaking rocks in a coffee can.

Magnaflow's kick ass.....I just got one put on with a customer cat back. They are definetly worth the money, and sounds like with the piping that is a great price.

I have a maganaflow street series muffler on my car with 2.25 from the catback. man i love this muffler is realy good sound nice low tone ! it was a bit pricey at like 240 including all the 2.25 pipe but i realy like it. now i want to get headers and flex pipe with no cat. if you get the maganflow i hope you in joy it as much as i do.

thanks for all your help... ive decided to go with a muffler called r1 racing mufflers.... its those typical mufflers with the silencer inside it... i got a good price too... with the pieping and installation.. and the muffler.. i got it for 242... i figured magnaflow with no tip and not chormed cost me 180 with pipeing and installation and the muffler... and i thought 242 was a better deal... don't wanna take short cuts and don't wanna try to save money anymore... when i try to save money and try to take shortcuts... i end up doing the work 2nd time around.... but thanks for all the info...
