 I changed my speedometer cable and put everything back the way it was and now my car will not start. The battery works and she has gas. When I push in the clutch and turn the key, nothing happens. She wont even turn over. My guess its the starter, but I'm not sure. Can anyone give me advice on what can it be before I go wasting money on parts I don't need.

Thanks

check the wires you may have hit under the dash...

frick where did my post go? I was thinking he might have hit a vacuum line or a small wire when he disconnected it from the trans side.

You should clean the battery cables and battery posts. A similar thing happened to me and that fixed it.

Sorry about that, dint mean to post it twice. I just wasnt getting a response and I thought that for some reason no one could see it. I know it sounds stupid. Anyway what do you mean Vacuum line. I am still learning some of the car lingo. So please explain what you mean and where it is in the car. I have a 89 Accord LXI.

I have checked all the wires and hoses under the hood and under the speedometer cluster and by the fuses. I cannot see any lose wires and my battery cables and tops are fine. I am going nuts here cause I cannot find what is wrong.

Here is another stupid question. Will the Accord turn over at all if it is out of gas. I know, its a really dumb but I have run out of ideas of what is wrnong.

Yes, it will still turn over without gas. Does your starter have two wires connected to it? It should have the big one from the battery and a small black one. You may have bumped the small black one off when you were swapping cables.

I checked and both wires are hooked up to the starter. But thanks for trying to help.

I found out why my car was not starting. The clutch has 2 buttons. One is realesed when you hit the clutch and the other one is pushed in. Well the end of the the piece of the clutch that pushes in the button has a rubber boot. That rubber boot broke off and so when I hit the clutch the button wasnt being pushed. So of course the car wouldnt start. I went to a Honda dealer and got the little rubber boot for like $2. The damn button is right under the speedometer console and is really hard to find. It took me like a half hour to get it in. The space in there is really tight. But all is well, my car works and Im happy.

Thank you for trying to help me out:D
