alright heres the deal. When i start the car on cold mornings, it does the usual warm up period. But after the car is warm and i try to kick it down, it wont. Sometimes it will idle at 2k rpm, and also it has idled as high as 3k rpm. It will usually do this until after about 10-20 mins of driving and i usually have to rip off a couple high rpm shifts to get it to eventually kick down. I am pretty sure this is a choke problem, but what i wanna know is... should i have the problem with the existing carb fixed (whatever the prob is), or live with the problem until i can afford a weber?

After like 5min, the choke flap should be vertical. If not, check 12V @ choke heater and resistance. Is the charging light on?
