I was talking to a friend of mine who is a wholesale distributer and we worked out my new system. I am replacing my crappy dual 12" Pioneer IMPP's and getting one Orion XTR Pro. It has dual voice coils and is 500 watts rms/ 1000w max per sub w/ dual 4 ohm voice coils. It will be powered by a Lanzar Opti 200.2. The amp pushes 380W x 1 @ 4ohms Bridged. From what I hear this amp will out perform 800+ watt amps. It retails for $600 but I am getting it for much cheaper. :D The interior speakers are going to be Infinity Kappa 63.5i 6-1/2 for the rear, and Kappa 50.5CS 5 1/4 componets for the front. I already have a sweet h/u, Alpine CDA-7893 that I can't wait to hear on some decient speakers. So, what do you guys think?

LOL ! Ya the system is going to be crazy-clean. This guy really knows his shit when it comes to mechanics and car audio. He owns a car audio shop and is currently building a 800whp MR2. He has one of the fastest cars in North America and he is going for the actual record. RIght now the car does 0-60 in something like 3.2 seconds and pulls 7sec quarters. He is putting a larger turbo on there as well as some other modifications. I am basically going for sound quality right now. The setup that we have will give me some decient bass and CLEAN sound. Once it is all setup, I'll let you know and we'll meet up. :)

me and you should compete. I'll have an HX2 being pushed by a RF 501BD which i should be able to get up to 600 or 700 watts at 2 ohm. for my highs i have alpine Type-Rs all around. the deck is the Alpine 9813. It not gonna blow people away but it will be enough for me.

hey nate, where did that guy get that MR2? Did he build it from scratch or was it already fast before he got it?? I know a girl who's ex b/f had one of the fastest MR2's in the NW and he sold it about 2 years ago to some guy back east. It would be interesting if it was the same car.........

That's a nice setup man... That RF amp will supply some good power 500x1 @ 2 ohms. Plus it matches your sub perfectly. The Hx2 is rated at 250w RMS per voice coil and that is exactly what you are pushing. What model TypeR's do you have? Are they components? I’m not a huge fan of Alpine's speakers but the TypeR is a nice design.

The thing I like the most about the Lanzar is that it is made to push max power @ 4ohms as well as 2 ohms. That will allow me to run my DVC sub at max power and if I decide to get a SVC sub it will still run at full power. This amp is usually rated at 600x1w @ 4ohms bridged. The Kappa's are just... nutz! They have to be some of the best sounding speakers around. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

BTW. If I am ever in Texas, I'll hit you up. :) I visit my cousins in Louisiana frequently.

nice! Ya, componets are definitely the way to go. I have some P.A. tweeters on the front dash right now and they make a huge difference. I am planning on putting them on the rear deck with the Kappas just to add some more highs once the front componets are installed. How do you like your Alpine h/u? You must have not had it for long, I think that model is a 2003. When I first got my deck it retailed for $400 so it wasnt cheap but I paid for the sound quality. The only bad thing about alpines is that the resale value diminishes rapidly. Other then that, it's a very nice h/u.

Twin Voice Coil 12" HE2's handle more power than the HX series...

I used to sell Car Stereo at Best Buy...... the 12" HE2's retail for $180-$210.... the actual cost of them to the company is $110 each. Car stereo markup is rediculous........ Pick up Pyle or Earthquake products if you can. The are just as good if not better and at a much lower cost than the RF brand. Just my .02

I will be opening up a car stereo shop of my own here in South East PA within a month or so. I will keep 3 Geez posted on my shop and everyone gets the stereo stuff at 15% off what I will sell the products for.

I will sell everything from HU to speakers, subs amps, boxes and
acessories (lights, pedals, shift knobs and exhausts/intakes)

Yep... RF is way over priced... they do make a decent product though. DVC subs are the way to go. It's vital to get an amp that is designed to power the DVC’s correctly. Especially if you have twin DVC subs...

dude im not tryin to diss you but maybe you should have worked at Best Buy a little longer.

#1) the HE2's are 400W RMS (800 peak) while the HX2's are 500W RMS (1000W peak)

#2) If best buy bought the HE2's for $110 each, they got raped. I can get them for $57. I bought my HX2 for $118 after shipping.

Well I changed my mind on the Amp, I'm going to get an AudioBahn 800w max. I did some more research into the Lanzar and the Audiobahn actually has a cleaner s/n ratio as well as less THD. Plus it is cheaper and provides more power. Any one have any opinions on Audiobahn?

well to me audiobahn and lanzar are a close competition.

i guess best buy boy isn't gonna respond.

I glad you can get them for so cheap....... When I worked there HXs suck..... HEs where great sounding and pumped out more power than the HXs.......

I still like Earthquake more for the money.......

HE's were never better than HX'2s. maybe at best buy they were because the box wasn't custom made for each sub.

What do you guys think about Orion Subs? Are there better DVC subs in that price range that I should look at? I am getting a mono amp that is rated at 800w max x1 @ 2ohms and 400w x1 @4 ohms. Because of this I need a single DVC sub or 2 SVC subs to push max power. Right now I have 2 SVC's so a good single DVC sub would be required at around 500w+ RMS. Thanks.

I say go for it. It will sound really nice, according to the specs you provided. Make sure to post pics of your system when its all finished.
