Just wondering what makes the needle bounce a little bit, or shake, in the 0-30mph range? I've noticed mine has started doing this...

Is it fixable?

Mine does it too, it has always done it.....I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, you're probably right. I haven't really payed attention to my speedometer after 30 till about a few weeks ago, and that's when I noticed.

I read on another Honda bulletin board (I forget which one) that the speedometer cable has a nylon bushing that wears out and allows the cable to move around enough to get that low speed wobble. I bought a new cable, but I haven't put it in yet. My Prelude had its cable replaced a few years before I bought it and its (nearly identical is design) speedometer works perfectly at all speeds so I'm expecting the new cable to fix mine. The part was about $28 from majestic if you're interested in fixing this little annoyance.

The nylon bushing explanation makes a lot of sense when I consider that I have pulled my inner cable and lubed it twice and I still have "the shake." At least it is quiet when it is cold outside.

Nice. I take it any mechanics place will install the new nylon if I buy it, right?

you'll have to get a whole new cable. I've heard that lubrication will help it some, but won't fix it if the nylon is worn out.

The cable aslo has a nasty habit of coming out of the cluster and make the speedo not work at all. Both my preludes have had that. It's so damn annoying!!!!
