Ok, so now it's time to do a custom trunk install. I have one amp already and will be getting one or two more. Right now I have my amp mounted on the back of my seat. Here's a pic of when I had two amps, the Xplod is the one that I'm keeping

So anyways, I'm looking for ideas of how to set everything up. I like the idea of laying the backseat down and seeing something, hence the reason why I have them mounted to the backseat now. But I want it more custom. So I've been thinking about making a box with clear plexi glass to hold the amps, similar to this one that I found on sounddomain.com

I think that looks completely sweet. But then I've always wanted to have subs there when you lay down the backseat you see this

Well not that, but that in a finished product, something similar to this, but cleaner looking

And then there's always throwing everything into the trunk.

Which would you guys rather see when you lay down the backseat, amps or subs? I think if you had amps behind the seat and the subs in the trunk facing the taillights it would hit harder due to the whole reverberation junk. So I guess I'm leaning more towards the amps behind the backseat and the subs facing the taillights. I don't really want the amps to be seen when you open the trunk, so I'll hide them behind the backseat. So anyways, any other ideas or suggestions that you guys have?

With my sealed box my 10" hits so much harder in its sealed angled box when it is almost against the back of the car, facing the back. I noticed it got alot louder when I moved it back a mere 1-2 feet. The thing is if I want to take anything big anywhere I have to take the box out since it nearly eliminates any large amount of space in my trunk.

LOL!!!

I am still contimplating over putting a 12" sub in a custom enclosure where the spare tire goes. I wanted to create the box with fiberglass and cut a piece of wood that would fit the entire trunk where the carpet is now. Im sure there is enough volume in that spare tire area to make a decient box. :D

But I want to have two 12s and I don't think I could get the proper volume out of there for two 12s. I say go for that

lol, why is everyone posting their set ups? I want ideas on a custom trunk set up, not a box. :D

kicker... You should measure the space that would be available in the spare tire area. Get an approx. measurement on the volume and if it is close to 2 cubic feet then you may be able to pull it off.

Unless your amps have built-in cooling systems then it is best to mount them on the surface of something where there is at least a little bit of air-flow. Mine are mounted on the back of my seat and it took me 4 hours of continuous playing to blow out my Interfire amp. Some people like to mount their amps behind plexi-glass or in a sealed area but they later realize that their amp is overheating. Most of those setups are intended for "show" purposes only, not for practical use. Try to get the subs mounted where the spare tire is. Stick the amps right next to the subs, and your good to go...
