Thanks to all those who informed me about the missing pages in the online Shop Manual on my site. I made photos of those pages and uploaded them to my site as an update for the Shop Manual. Later I will add the pages to SM archives.

Thanks a number of times over, Paul. This stuff is an immense help. And I'm not big on car photos, but you've got some very memorable pictures of your Aerodeck in those very Russian settings. More and more I'd like to go and visit that country! Awesome work, man.

Fellas,

I have a copy of the service manual on CD in PDF format. It will keep your service manual from getting all greasy because you can just print out the pages you need and throw them away when the job is all done.

If you haven't seen the service manual before, take my word on this, it is worth the time of any 3Geezer to take a look.

If any of you are interested in a copy (as a backup of course) let me know and I will try to work something out.

**Especially if you live near Columbus, OH**

Now, if I could just get my 87 LXi hatchy back from Hugh White Honda I could fix some of its problems!

Take care,

Barber

Question: The manual shows KA, KX etc. models. How does this translate to our LXi, LX, DX models?

Very good question. I have been grappling with this for a while. Anyone have an answer? Paul?

ACCORD EX
12-04-2004, 09:53 AM
well ! you can determine your model by looking at the vacuum diagrams of the carb or EFI in the FUEL section ! each model is shown separately and then compare it with your car !

Mike !

thegreatdane
01-02-2005, 03:38 AM
If you take a look at your black vacuum box, there's a sticker on it (if it didnt fall off) that shows which one your's is. It has nothing to do with trim levels, it means what kind of emmisions your car's got. In my case it says KG which has the least emissions. The sticker on the black box is not the only place it says what your's is, the gauges have a sticker on them too on the bottom.

I just got back from the Minneapolis Central Library. While there, I saw a full version of the 1989 Accord manual. It had alot of useful diagrams not found in the PDFs, and it was considerably thicker than the hardcopys they had of any other years manual. Here is a picture of one of the many fold outs:

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4906/library004large4bs.th.jpg (http://img97.imageshack.us/my.php?image=library004large4bs.jpg)
(Full ECU Pinout, it will be very handy for figuring out my OBD-1 swap)

Does anyone know if this data would be the included in the following manual from Helm?

1989 Accord Shop Manual (All)
Price: $64.00 In Stock
(English, Paper, 61SE304)

I am tempted to take my laptop and scanner to the library, but I know that it would take a long time to scan the whole thing out of the book.

Does anyone know if the Helm manuals come bound, or are they in 3 ring binders? If they were in a binder, I could just take the pages out and throw them in my auto-feed scanner.

not to many people care if an old shop manual is on line, there are some sites that even have the old 600 manuals and even people at honda refer to them sometimes due to their rarity. it's pretty common for a site or a type club as this site is becoming to have the old manuals on line. it's understood no one is trying to steal anything or profit from it,just to keep their old cars running.

It's so nice to have a real car maint. manual and not the haynes manual. I don't like the haynes manual like I did the Chilton manuals. Not the same page material and in depth like they did. If anyone is interested, Helm Inc. is having a sale on their shop manuals (i got mine from Ebay), these things are endlessly helpful and include a lot of stuff not seen in downloadable files (i.e. diagrams and stuff) and i like having a book anyways cuz i can write notes in it. We lost our host for the '89 USDM manual and I haven't had time to figure out how to host it myself. If you're willing to host it, I'm happy to send you the file. PM me and we can figure out how.
