Looked around the site for a bit looking for this but nothing came up. So here it is. When Im ready to drive, I of course let the engine warm up to operating temperature. I get going and approximately 5 miles of constant driving my temp gauge falls almost to dead cold. I replaced my rad this summer. I took it from a '88 LXI w/ A/C. The rad was in mint condition. Theres about 80% radiator fluid and 20% water inside. The only things that I can think of is that my thermo isn't working properly or that since its not a 100% rad. fluid, its running colder. Have no idea. If ne1 could help that'd be great, Thanks guys

Sounds to me like a broken temp sensor, I have seen a small decrease in temp when my thermostat opens on different cars but it shouldnt drop to cold. Also, you don't need to let your car warm up to operating temp before you drive it. That is unless you live somewhere that is like -20 in the winter, or if you have a tempermental carb.

It sounds like your thermostat might be stuck open.
