ok i need to know some stuff before i get it. can a b18a1 head on a b20a5 block? is the intake bolt pattern the same with both the motors? i have a 85 plelude and want a b20a5 because it would be the easiest swap to do. but i want to run my dcoe's on it. ive ordered the manifold for a b18a1 out of the integra. and need to know waht i can do before i buy all kinds of stuff that i cant use. and what axles do i use? my biggest thing is, can run my b18a1 dcoe manifold on the b20a5?:werd:

Since the B20A5 bock (3rd gen US Prelude engine) will not fit in our cars using the A20A's mounts, how do you get it to fit so easily into your Prelude (which can mount an A20A stock)?

If you get the B18A1 head to fit the B20A5 block, let me know of any noticeable differences. Because from hearing all over the net, the only head that bolts onto the A5 block stock, is the B21A1. Which still is a 3rd gen prelude motor. Differences in flow, I wouldn't know :(

ok well there is a forum in 3 geez that says that a b20a5 and the b20a came from the 2nd gen preludes and that the b20a2 and b20a7 came from the 3rd gen accords. some one need to tel me what the engine codes are so i can get it right. and besides i think i can put a 88-91 dohc prelude motor in my car it just counts on the side mount and how it mounts on the motor. i have to look into it a little bit more. and i have heard that a guy put a b16 head on a b20a and it worked vtec and everything.

Here's a little background on the B20A and B20A5:

so i was right the japan engine codes for the ludes is b20a and b20a5, the accords engine codes b20a japan and b20a2 and b20a7 eroupe. read it again. and make sure you know what your talking about. im talking about a 2nd gen lude b20a and a 3rd gen accord b20a engine. not the 3rd gen ludes engine that engine leans tward the fire wall. the one i want leans tward the radiator. that b20a motor will bolt right up to my frame.......

Yes, but in your first post you mentioned the B20A5 which is the US 3rd generation prelude engine. Of course a B20A will bolt right in, I wanted to know how you expected to put in the backwards-leaning 3rd generation Prelude engine. The answer is you meant to say B20A, not B20A5.

go ahead and read the thread again it says "the engine from the prelude will be labled b20a5 OR b20a (japan)"

The engine you are looking for is the JDM-B20A GoldTop or BlackTop! The gold top has a vaccuum advance dist. The black top has a electronic advance dist.

It comes in the aerodeck accord.

I searched for one and I found three....but no transmissions! I wanted to swap out my A20!

the B20A5 is not a great motor. From the understanding i think it was just a stroked down Older B18s, stroked down to 2.0L from a 1.8L. So dont bother doing anything to the motor since the stroke is fragile. Better yet, swap would be best.

hmm fragile is not a word i would accosiate with the b20a5. I know its not as good as a JDM b20a but its not a horrible pile of junk either. I have 320,000km on my '89 2.0si and it still runs really strong.

:D You know what i meant buddy. Buying that motor for a swap is not a great investment, thats what i was meaning to convey.
