hey my engine blew lastnite w/245,000 on it. I have an 89 lxi coupe a20a3 FI auto. I need to know the CHEAPEST way to get it back on the road and replacement a20a3 engies look expensive. I was thinkin LAST RESORT to go with a zc and a swap to the 5speed. Other than that I would just do anything to get it on the road. Oh yeah tranny always felt like it was on its way out so i should do that while im at it.help would be appreciated.

If you are looking for cheap goto a junkyard and find a 3g that has been rear ended or something. If its a good place they will fire it up for you. You can probably get a engine and tranny for around $500.

don't waste your money on a zc. its a puny engine that will have a hard time making your car go. The a20 is a good motor and there is a lot of stuff becoming available to make them powerful. you'll spend way too much money getting a ZC in there. There are motor mount kits for B series motors, but it'll cost you about 1100 bucks and thats not including buying the motor. You should be able to find a replacement a20 in a junk yard. I've found a couple in the 200-300 dollor range. If you pay over 500 for a motor you're getting ripped off.

Yea I am with NXRacer on this one. You said you are looking for the cheapest way to get back on the road so stick with the a20. For the price of a ZC swap (well over a grand) you can build one hell of an A20 that will roast it. $500 should get you a running A20 with a 5speed bolted to it.

well, do you have a ZC engine? if you got your hands on one, it may have more power depending on the year. the one i looked at had 130hp over the A20A3's 120hp. its basicly the J-spec version of a D16 something or other. im thinking thats what it was. although, i would say just go the the old junkyard and get a nice A20, preferably the A20A3 being that that one is most powerful. at either junkyard that i deal with, they were saying a good engine and tranny for $300-$400. and yeah, they should start it up for ya to make shur its all good. as for the CRX engine, personally, i wouldnt do it. its a big pain from what i was told. considering its a smaller engine and you will have to make special mounts. i would get either an A20 series, or B series (B16 or B18 are best).

If you're looking for a different engine, you might wanna check out this page, they have combo packages (engine, tranny, & ecu) some prices pretty high, but the zc engine is pretty cheap.
