this weekend i recovered the top part of my door panel thats vinal with some new red vinal. it looks great. it turned out really nice. i also dyed the fabric part of the door panel black. its all rainy and dark so i havent taken any pix yet. evne in the middle of the day it was dark-ish so no pix. i had used krylon fusion on the original vinal thinking it would turn out nice, but it didnt seem to dry, even 2 weeks later. it was all sticky and rubbed off on whatever came in contact with it. so no krylon fusion for vinal. it does work good on the hard plastic though. so i guess i wont be using that on the top portion of the dash. duplicolor vinal dye will work good though.

well, i know y'all dont like waiting, but damn it be patient!!! lol. im going to see if my mom will let me have the digi cam she has from her husband. she dosent have her computer up, and she probley will never take any pix with it. anyways, i'll see what i can do. i know y'all will just love my black and red color scheme going on. its bad ass. i had the idea to do krylon fusion on the plastic trim pieces around the pillars, but now im thinking i should do them with the vinal. i havent seen anyone do that. and that way, no worry about messing up the paint, although they say it wont chip(yeah right). now, what the hell do i do about my dash? the top part is vinal stuff. guess i will try vinal dye first.

I did my rear coupe panels a year or so ago and they turned out awesome. The vinyl looks good if you spend time to work out the wrinkles in the corners. I never made it to the front panels which will definatly take a bit of time to look good. 3M glue seemed to be the best then i used hot glue on the backing. I also used expensive padding which seemed to be well worth it. Then if you paint any of the plastic panels make sure to prep them a few times especially if you used armoral on them.

These are in my other coupe that was gonna be painted white so thats why the colors are black and white. I may follow that scheme on my nice coupe but this time im gonna wait till its painted cause im not 100% on white.

i got my digi cam now. when i got it, the battery wasnt charged but it is now. so tomorrow, i will take some pix. i'll post them if i get a chance. that digi cam takes such good pix! i took some of the mitsubishi lancer posters i have in my room and they turned out looking like i took the pix myself. i guess i can post those too. well, no more wasting lots of money on developing pictures at the store. that gets rather expensive after a while.

rob..what body shop did you take your cart to? i want to get my rear bumper painted and mounted before too long.

also..i was looking at doing the vinyl for the either the 3g or the AV6...how much and where?

As far as body work i have yet to have any done and i was gonna use a guy from Audi/Porsche but he was pretty high and it will take him awhile to do it cause it will be on the side. I know of two body shops in S.Windor that im gonna check out when im ready. Signature in E.Hartford was good but they were bought out and its just a bunch of kids working it so i dont know how well they are now but i was on a tour before and saw their work and it was really good.

As far as vinyl i bought my stuff from Jo-ann fabrics and did it myself. You will have to take some time on it and the front door panels will be even harder so i would do the hatchback before you touch your coupe. Other than that im sure theyre are shops around here but im very picky so they would have to be very good to do my stuff. I know their are a bunch of good shops on the west coast but im sure theyre expensive but worth it in the end result.

Im not big on bright colors but that looks good being vinyl. The middle part of the door (arm rest) is the hardest part to get to look decent because of a seam and getting all the wrinkles out.

wow. a little to much color for me but DEFFINATLY a great job. very nice. also props on the lude seats and lude wheel:D
:flip:
and thats for having an armrest! haha j/p

Rob---haha you read my mind man. i was actualy looking at getting the factory black panneling that comes in other models. im going to do that for the dash any way and im looking at doing the seats in vinyl casue leather is so damn expensive and its easier to maintain. black leather with red trim and red stitching. sooo bling. but ill only be able to affordthat in the air force so ill be geting that completed hopefully in about 6-8 months from now[ship out in 3 mo.]

nice work. i've seen some brutal jobs done before. but yours looks nice and smooth.
did your lude wheel bolt right on?

3G Jester
10-29-2003, 10:15 PM
yea the lude wheel is bolt on bolt off. if you pop off the honda center cap the bolt hold it on is right there. lock the wheel by turning it hard over and just unbolt it.

seats are too if im correct. Jy has all that stuff

oh, i guess i forgot to say that the armrest on the door was done with krylon fusion. and my console armrest was done with original fabric used from a spare back seat armrest and dyed red. im thinking of re-covering it in vinal so it looks cleaner and wont fade out from the sun.

Yeah, You wont even beable to get that done in the airforce! hahaha I know! been in 2 years and im still poor. As for the krlon only worked on my plastic. I did the same intereior setup almost 2 years ago, door handle is still brown though. and i havent bought the dye for the bottom of my doors yet!
