My friend had a set of wheels that we repainted. We first sanded them down (not to bare metal, just to take most of the finish off) than cleaned them really well. We then sprayed them with two coats of duplicolor wheel paint and 2 coats of duplicolor clear. they turned out damn nice. you could not tell that they were painted, you would think that they came from the factory that way. The only problem with it was that it was easier to chip/scratch the finish. But it is really easy to fix so thats not a problem. here is a pic of them-

I took these pics right after I finished the engine swap. You can check out my greasy finger prints all over the car. The car also has a white hood now.
The wheels are from a 99 mustang GT that my friend got for $200.

I have one but I am a little far away from you. You can get one from Harbor freight tools or J C whitney fairly cheap.

I dont remember what grit the paper was. It was pretty fine (i *think* it was like 500 grit) We did not use primer because duplicolor said that it wasnt necessary. If you sand down the wheels but not all the way to the metal you dont need it. I dont remember the exact name of the color but it was Duplicolor Wheel Paint. They only have 3 colors, white, silver, and the dark grey that we used. Honestly those pics dont do it justice they do look damn good in person. It is really hard to get a pic because the paint has a lot of metalic in it and kind of changes shades depending on the light and angle. We got it at Orilley Auto but I think wal-mart carries it now also. It should be pretty easy to find.

yeah they are nice cars. my friend actually has two of them. (you can see the other one in the second pic)

The there are two downsides to FC's, the electrical system and the engine. The electric stuff in FC's just dont work that well. There is always a bug that needs to be worked out. The engine is nice and all, you can rev the thing like crazy. But N/A FC's just dont have any torque. It can sometimes be a bitch to drive because of that (especially if you live somewhere with lots of hills) Plus they are really temperamental, there is tons of stuff that you have to look out for or the engine will be toast. A good thing is that they are pretty easy to rebuild. My friend bought that car with a dead engine. I pulled the dead engine out of both cars, ore them apart and rebuilt them.

 I love 1st gens. I just love the simplicity. I hope I can pick one up someday. They are really rare where i live tho. Its kind of funny there are probably 5-7 2nd gens where I live, and my friend owns 2 of them.

Hey 2oldHonda how many cans of spray paint did you you what kind (laquer, gloss, etc) and what size can did you buy to do all 4??

2old_honda

I think we used like 3 cans of color and 3 cans of clear. These wheels were 17's so your 14's shouldnt need that much. We used this paint http://www.duplicolor.com/products/wheel.html. They were just regular sized spray paint cans.

Oh one more thing, I remember that we used too much paint. Instead of doing real light coats we sprayed it on pretty heavy. For the best results you should do like 2-3 light coats.
