View Full Version : i got a TEC dizzy

i got a tec. distributor for my bro and it's hella better.
it idle's smoother and the acceleration is quicker. but more quicker when it's advanced.
he told me thought when it hit's 3,000-4000rpm the tach how do you say. . . .
well he said that when the tran shift's to the next gear it'll go 3,500 ,shift to 2nd, tach then goes to 4,000 rpm's then back down.But when he floor's it it does'nt do it.
i did'nt noticed that it did it when it was idled.
but it seem's to have more control than the hatachi does.
cause when i first started it 5min's. later the exhaust smelled lean.
any thing i should be worried about or am i paranoid?

if you have a voltmeter/ohmmeter, you should test the ignitor.
it is on the outside of the dizy.

which one's do i test?
paul's manual seems different than what i have.
oh and uh . . . i know it smoothes the idle out quicken's the accel.
but does it improve fuel economy?
read about it just curious.

paul's manual is for european accord.
i don't know what kind measurements they got there, but i would stick with chilton or haynes manual if i was you.

okay i replaced the igniter i got better reading's (chiltons) then the old one.
but it still kinda do it. i think it's the pickup coil ( that thing that's collected to the stator) around the reluctor.
or do i have to change the coil since it was with the hatachi?
he really like's it and i don't wanna change it.

well if he likes it. don't do anything to it.

but he's kinda like me.
one thing that goes wrong that's never before i want that problem taking care of.
plus i own the car still.
