VIN Plate from old dashboard

I replaced my dashboard on my 89 accord dx. The dashboard from the junk yard obviously has a different vin number on it. Can I just put off the old plate off my old dash and rivet it onto the new dashboard? I just don't want them to give me shit when I go for inspection.

as far as i know on the inspection they take the VIN # from the firewall ! my dash is changed and has no VIN # ! but laws may differ ! ??
