Top Speed?

What have you guys gotten ur 3geez up to? i got an 88 ex-i 5 speed, i wnna know how quick it goes.

my top speed was 110mph
with my accord 89 with more that 300 000 miles on it
i never tried more that this because the car was starting to
shake:D

ps:always running my car at a minimum of 90mph on the highway

Well I have had mine at 115 with no shake but I worry about cops and their are a lot so I usually freakout and slow down.

BTW Now that I have cleaned out my throttle body I accelerate much faster I am currently looking into a new camshaft and I have all your basic bolt on's I swear once they all are in and your engine is all tuned everything works together so nice on a level road I can get to 115 with no problem the powercurbe is so smooth and much better than when I first got my car.

I've only had mine up to 100. Could have gone faster, but my tires were out of balance so it was shaking quite a bit and I slowed down. :)

127MPH once, but it toke forever and I may have had a tail wind I dunno. I can do 115MPH day in and day out, no drama even in the rain:D Went to that speed several times during my little adventure I talk about in the pics section:rolleyes:

On flat road, 125mph.

But on Hwy 50 near El Dorado Hills, there is a 7% downhill grade for about a mile, and from the top of that hill i start @ about 85 and before getting to the bottom hit 130 something. By then, the tach is somewhere around 5500 RPMs.

120 on a totally flat road North of Corpus Christi. Had a tail wind and the air is denser down there at sea level. Definitley would not go faster than that without a significant downgrade. The car had about 60,000 miles on it at the time and was in peak condition.

I regularly get it up to 100 in the HOV lane of I-35 near my house when there is no one in front of me.

I don't see how these cars could really go 130, but I suppose it is possible.

my fastest was 203 kph which is approx 127 mph... on the good ol trans Canada highway... took a while to get there tho...

dosn't the DX/LX's have speed restricter's on them ?? i think the it cuts off after like 108 or something...


The LXi's don't have this... If your LXi is in decent shape and you floor the pedal, eventually after around 3-5 miles it will hit 130.

i went 135 on the highway, all i had was intake, exhaust, and honda engine clean up a month b4, i have "pegged" the speedo' as one would say, but only on down hill, not too impressive, but fun. it kinda feels like your floating when you go from lane to lane passing peaople. i went 130 for 8 mins strait. fuel read 3/4 at beggining and almost 1/4 at end, not very fuel efficient at high speeds,lol

I crunched numbers and got 3 mpg... that can't be right, can it?!

8 minutes / 60 per hour = 0.13 (repeating) hours * 135 mph = 18 miles / 6 gallons used (approximation) = 3 miles per gallon

going downhill will cause your fuel gauge to read lower than the actual level ;)
If my tank is too low and I gun it hard it's fine but when I turn left while accelerating hard I have starved the pump on several occasions (carb)

i hear you, but im serious, my injectors are leaky but thats not all of it, your running about 5500+ rps at high speeds and that means a lot more fuel usage. think of all the air that is being compressed and forced out of the way at those speeds. havin a well waxed car matters a good deal at speeds such as these. my car runs rich, but not extremely. anyway, hats about what it was.

I did 115 mph@ 4500rpm and that was fast enough for me since my front tire is almost bald and my car is to old and rusty i usauly never go over 90 now. Nate:cool:

thats Kiolmeters an hour boyz. It was in the rain and it was pretty fast to get there. I am still on 185 70 13's and it was all over the place. i bet if i put my 215 45 17's, i could have gone a little fater without loosing control!

unt uh, those tire's are way taller than your 13's so your effective final drive will be taller, hurting acceleration and top end. Plus with a 215mm width those 17's are going to create allot more wind resistence, which ain't gonna help either:D But on the bright side since your speedo will be wrong, the false reading will show you going faster than you really are. The error is 6%! So at 100 your really doing 94.

When mine was new it would peg the spedo eaisily, I went from valdosta to moultrie at 125, thats about 45 miles, sucked down most of a a tank doing it. When you floor it the carb just opens up and dumps gas. And no t here is no speed restrictor on the dx. The computer just controls the mixture. The computer on the carb is very primitive it only controls the emissions and a few other things.

My best top speed before mods was 137mph on 205/45 16's. Since the engine build up I haven't run out all of fourth yet to really check for top speed.....oh, and my damn speedo cable isn't working.

cool vid the speedo on my dads BMW maxes out at 280 kmh...
Too bad it's got winter tires on and is limited to about 210 I think.
The auto bahn is the sweetest road... the left lane is the fast lane like on most highways... but it's illegal to pass on the right and you can't go faster then the person in the lane left of you. the far left lane is paved differntly as well... and some of the lines on the road make a barking sound when you roll over them.
