hmm........ you'd have a more unique car if you built up the accord, but it'd prob be more practical to get a teg.

your accord is LX (carbed), you will have to convert to EFI first. so in this case i would say buy the TEG.

Dont't be dumb... just buy the car, it would cost way too much to swap the engine in to your car, and then you still have a 14 year old car with a teg engine.

Do the swap if you car is in good shape. Its lighter than most Integras. And I assume its allready paid for. But screw the B18, get a B20Z out of a CRV. All4n in Columbus will hook you up for $800 motor only.

what do you want?? a teg or the accord?? it's all up to you... the accord is lighter, makes a better sleeper, and is much more unique... like you said, the price isn't too different... personally, i would do the accord, assuming i had another car and this would be a toy... it sometimes takes a long while to sort out the most simple of problems, even for the pros... the teg will be there out of the box... not the big amounts of trouble that may be lurking around the corner with the accord... things like suspension and stuff... just do what's right for you

Go with the 3g.
Pimp the popups on a family sleeper.
The only Integra with popups were from the 80s like us, but they were not as good of a car as the 3G. If you do not believe me take a gander at the rear suspension. Blah.

Just buy the teggy! It takes alot of money to do a swap in an accord. Honda are slow stock and it takes a good amount of money to make it fast. If you consider beating D15 & D16's a great sleeper then go for it.

Dude, you can beat a D with an A with a minimal amount of work. Civics engines suck! Minus the B16 and The K20.

A Stock B-series in an Accord will not beat a Stock B-series in a Teg.

:321: And why the hell not?

Lets use the 98 GSR Sedan as an example. It weighs 300 lbs more than a 3g. And I am pretty sure the B swap will lighten the 3G. Being an all aluminum engine vs a cast iron block.

So how will a car with the same drivetrain be faster when it is heavier?

P.S. Its nice to see you debated something else than what I posted.

From what I have read on this site, about 5 persons have done a B-series swap. All but 1 are using LS Trannies. The only way a car with an LS tranny can beat a car with hydro tranny, is if the car with the LS tranny makes more power than the car with a Hydro tranny. So an Accord with a Stock B-Series ( ls tranny ) will not beat a TEG with Stock B-series ( hydro tranny ).. The teg speeds up faster, because the tranny has shorter gears. LS Tranny gears are long and REV slower. 3g & G3 weigh almost the same. ;) Just here for fun , not trouble.

No trouble. But what is the point in swaping a performance motor without the performance tranny? Its not like a hydrolic swap is impossible, just more work. I would do it.

Have you ever done a Hydro Conversion? Not Pretty.. Swaps are easier! U can still use a Ys1 ( B17 Tranny ) or J1 tranny. Both Cable and with Short gears. B17 is the second best tranny their is. ( B )

I would just do the Accord. Just make sure you can get rear discs, if you get a swap. And as for tranny's get the first gen B16A tranny. Cable + shorter gears than the LS.

Much better to get the Teg.

Yea hasport makes the conversion kit, but I would drop in the C1 and get the B17 tranny hands down.
As for EvilPenciler who has forgotten about his thread I would just buy a GS-R or Type-R. For the price of the swap you can get a teg. If you want a bad ass sleeper then drop the C1 into the 3G.

For your question do the swap not alot of fixed up 3rd gen accords would be a good sleeper car. However, For the amount of money you spend on the swap or buying the teg you can make the A20 faster.

I was faced with this very dilema. Buy the teg or keep the accord and swap the b18c1. I chose to swap the b18c1. I am in the process of doing it. I am converting everything, tranny, OBD, basicly it will be a GS-R integra only lighter and way more underestimated, which will be a lot of fun. But hell you cant really go wrong with buying the teg either. All I gotta say tho is if you do the swap, do it right and go all the way.

Just go for the teg. It'll be less of a headache.
