Yes. Waxing afterwards is a must.

Lighter Fluid or Charcoal starter (Naptha) works great, too, and it's cheap. I buy generic "Coleman" stove fuel, which is also naptha, by the gallon. It will not hurt your paint, but like the other stuff, will strip off the wax.

um, Meguiars Scratch X removes alot of shit like that...got tree sap off my car. Its relatively expensive around 8 bucks for a tube but that shit works, and u shouldnt have to wax afterward.

a clay bar will also do the trick... or if you want to make it look perfect, get the clay bay, the scratch-x, and buff the car out and wax it... it will look like new again

Coka-Cola always did the trick for me if it's still kinda gooey.

The tube says to wax afterwards though...

I manage a carwash, and i must say i get that question at least 10 times a day... SO i guess the question i'd want to ask you is, what's your concearn with the finish? Ultimately after you get that stuff off you want to wax it... I know hand waxing is okay, but it's very ineffecient. If you have a random orbital or a high speed buffer, you'd increas yoru chances of not having such a hard time removing stuff from your finish.. In terms of getting it off your car.. you could take Wd-40 if you don't care about yoru finish. But if you don't, you could use any type of bug/tar remover, just keep in mind what the directions say.

Then get some bug/tar remover and then just do the whole car while you're at it. YOu should wax your car every 3-6 months
