They're most likely talking about the older Civic wagons. The 80's Civics did indeed come in a 4WD wagon

I've only bought two new cars in my life (& I've bought many cars) . . . one was an '86 Honda Civic Wagovan . . . I loved it . . . I abused it . . . I sold it and the guy I sold it to totalled it . . . but he was okay, thank God . . . I wish I had it again . . . my recently obtained Accord is only my 2nd Honda . . . you can bet it won't be my last . . .

You said it man, as soon as someone gets a taste of honda they will usually stay loyal. I just went from my accord to a 3rd gen prelude

go honda!

I'd like to get a drivetrain from the Shuttle and try a Frankenstein AWD project. The sizes are quite close, just gotta extend the driveshaft 4 inches and just work out "minor" tranny issues.

a lot of fabricating would be required but you could probably swap in a comlete CRV platform and go from there: a guy in honda tuning mag is doing it to a newer integra...

The CRV is too long and too wide. There's only 5 mm difference between the 3rd gen and the civic shuttle when it comes to width. The shuttle wheelbase is 4 inches longer than our accords but that' nothing a '97 CRV driveshaft wouldn't cure. It's all the tranny issues involved that are my main concern.

He's doing it to a Type-R. I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY hope he doesn't screw that car up.

Those wagons came with 6-speeds too.

since when did the wagon came with a 6 speed? I wish it did! My best friend had one, now he's got a 95 Civic, but no way did the civic ever come with a 6 speed.......

the only chance youever have of that happening is th new Si with a K20 Type-S swap....... it's got a 6 in it...... besides that, good luck

i'm pretty sure the wagon with 4wd came with a 6-speed option.

"The other Civics continued unchanged for this year, with the exception of the wagon, which, later in the model year, became available with four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. As the Civic's reputation for quality, clever engineering and steadfast reliability continued to grow, so did the little Honda's popularity, as sales figures that topped 200,000 annually attested. "
