OK i just got this 86 honda accord lxi the sedan and I was just messing with it because I have been bored, Well today like a dumb shit I pulled the ebrake and tried to give it gas. Well I did it and it poped and i was like oh my gosh wtf! so I turned it off and started it back up and tried to put it in d4 because I was at a light and I watned to go... well I tried to give it gas but it just sat there like it waas in neutral and then I tried to put it in reverse make sure that was still alive which it was. So i put it in reverse and then into 2 and it drove in 2 but i tried to put it in d4 again at a light and it was like in neutral again so finally I put it in 2 then 3 then 4 and it ran fine but when I decellerated it make a funny winding noise from the passenger front. No matter what gear I was in. So whenever i'm at a stop light today I have had to put it in 2 then 4 any clues?:sadwave:

You burst a trans fluid line check the line that run to the bottom of the radiator from the transmission...

Alright, is it still safe to drive it right now and how much do them lines cost and and is it a easy fix?

with a bad line you'll run out of tranny fluid and burn up your trans.

ewe... it sould be between the battery tray and the heat shield for the exhaust manifold.

Of if you know where the transmission dipstick is then the two hoses are right there, and then they go to the bottm of the radiator. The hoses are about a 1/2 inch in diameter.

but to replace the hoses you need to know the inner diameter of the hose... and I'm not sure what that is... if you can cutt off a small segment of the busted transmission line and take it to an auto parts store they can hook you up with the right size replacement hose.
Just make sure you get a few feet since you might want to replace both hoses.
oh and buy the right type of ATF to refill your trans.

if you've been driving it w/out fluid for very long its possible its burned up, but if you stopped driving it soon after it blew you may be ok. its doesnt take much to burn up an auto.

I hate to say it but I think you blew the diff or something, a burst fluid line won't let you drive to far, the car wouldn't reverse or go forward at all with no fluid so figuring the rate at which it pumps the fluid you'd probably get no father than 1 or 2 miles.

drain some fluid out, check for metal shards

now that I think about it I don't think your diff is at fault but rather one of the internal valves that tells the tranny what gear to engage, that or somehow you poped the gear selector cable out (unlikely, you can still reverse and park right?)
