She idles properly! No surging, no 2,000RPM cold days. Nice and steady 750 at 23 HG/in. Finally replaced that control valve on the back of the intake manifold. Got it at the boneyard for 4 bucks. When I installed it and started the engine, it barely ran at ~500RPMs, loping like a Chevy with a mean cam in it. Fixing that thing also solved that intake whistle that lots of people get when they floor it (If you have it you know what I mean). The whistle is fixed by just backing off the idle screw, which some people have turned all the way in to get a low idle b/c the valve is broken.

Anyway, I'm happier than a pig in $h!t. :D :D :D

That's the one you're looking for. It has two coolant lines going to it, so it's not a good idea to work on it while the engine's warm.

mine does the same...2k in morning...and in park or nuetral she revs then drops, revs then drops..i thought it was the airfilter, pcv so i got those to replace tonite..but i may have to check that..how much new?

No idea how much new. I think that the only place you can get one new is a Honda dealer. I could be wrong though.

I think they're around $50 new. People might be surprised at their idle problems if they were to replace the fast idle valve.

No. The LX has a totally different set-up for the idle controls.

ok.. well i'm reviving an old thread here..haha
when adjusting the fast idle screw.. or that screw in the pic.. which way do you turn it??

would replacing a pcv valve also fix an unstable idle problem..?
mine is weird.. i start it, it runs to 2000 then slowly drops, but once i tap on the gas, it goes back up to the 2000 range like a choke on a crab.. mmmm

The screw is on the throttlebody, and you turn it counterclockwise to raise RPMs, clockwise to lower.
