This is Kiko's ride. He's a pretty cool guy to talk to.

http://www.89accord.com/special/accordinjapan.jpg

This is what he had to say,

My name is Kiko. I'm a big fun of 89' Accord coupe since first time I saw the car at shop about 7 years ago. Unfortunally living in tokyo don't let me allow owning a car for a while. (cost of parking is about $500us in my apartment!) Since I'm freelancing 3D computer animation, i decided to model my own Accord for my portfolio. Right now, I'm collecting photos from web as much as possible for referencing. And of course, I found your site is most complete 89' Accord site in the world!

Thank you so much sharing all the resources online. However, I'm still looking for blueprints (3 side , view from top,left/rigth,front). But can't find any online/offline.

I wonder if you have any blueprint(like the one in catalogue) already scanned to PC. or actual photo taken from top, front or back side. If you have, Would you be kind enough to mail them to me,please?
Also any photo taken from any angle would be really helpful understanding the right form of the car. I want to make my model best in the world! :)

Yea, thats what I thought too. I wanna see the top down. Is this guy a member? He just might be our first from Japan.

That's what they call a rag top/phantom top. Looks like a convert but it isn't.

Nice car but the rims do nothing for me. Anyway, the pic is odd b/c if he is in Japan the wheel should be on the right side. Also, I do think Honda sent the American made coupe to Japan, but would they have kept it LHD?

Honda built every single coupe in America. They were all left hand drive even the ones sent to Japan and the J-spec models were more luxurious than the U.S. models. Go figure, the bastards. Get this they cost about $20,000. BTW, all this info came from the June 1988 issue of Motor Trend.

JDM corners right here dude, they came with the car when I bought it a month ago! How weird and sick is that? No pics yet since I dont have a digital, but easyryder can certainly vouch for me since he is the one that pointed it out to me! (Im still learning as I go with our cars... :))

Nice to see a coupe with the xenon kit because i forgot what the side skirts looked like. I did see one in person at a local show but it was dark and my camera didnt get a decent picture of them. I like it as well with the exception of the wheels.

Do you have any other pictures from different angles?

dont like the chrome fender flares, the rims, or the roof, and the hood seems to not be on right. But still looks better than my accord lol... I like the color and the kit though.

I saw an accord with a top like that driving around, I think it looks ugly on our cars, or most cars for that matter. But whatever floats your boat.

Paulies car had the rag top, and now some guy in Hawaii owns it... I still haven't seen it on the road though.

Kiko kinda sounds like a girl's name, but oh wells. That's a nice car even though I don't like the ragtop.

Mike, my sixth sense says this person is probably just messing with you. There weren't any coupes made in Japan to begin with. I can understand the USDM front end conversion, but a left-hand drive coupe in Japan just looks kinda weird. Anyways, that's a nice care nonetheless.

maybe left hand drives in japan is the shit >.<! hahaa .. but any more pics of that thing? that shit is bad ass..

i noticed the left hand drive but i figured the car was just made that way. but were there really no JDM coupes? that seems kinda weird. only US market for coupes?
nd as for him joining. the only continent we dont have is asia. which is kinda sad seeing as how our cars are japanese to begin with.

Good looking little car.

One thing about the rhd vs rhd. If the coupe was made in America only it could have still been made rhd. The Marysville plant was the first auto plant in the us to make both left and right hand drive in the US. So they probably could have made a rhd coupe with little problem.

The honda marysville plant does make both LHD and RHD drive cars. and I am pretty sure all coupes were made in US, cuz when I had a 4 door it was made in japan but my coupe of the same year was made here.

that car dont look bad but I serious doubt thats its in japan...japan would never pass inspection to a car with LHD from the factory...also I would think the liscene plate holes on the bumper would be more spread out to fit it...even if its aftermarket

I don't know. I'm going to stray away from the majority here and vote nay for the car looking good. I absolutely hate 3 spoked wheels, and them being chrome with chrome wheel well trim is ugly in my opinion. The rag top must go! Haha. Eeek...

i dont like the rims either but overall car is pretty clean

I wouldn't doubt that car is in Japan..
for one, their Licence plates are the same size as ours ( i know, i've been there)
and yes Japan would allow a LHD drive car to pass inspection, just as you can import a car from overseas to NA and get it inspected and passed aswell..

there is a place here in vancouver that does that. actually they have a 3rd gen sedan too. From japan but it has USDM flip-ups and it's LHD. it has the jdm markers and all.. so Japan does have some LHD cars aswell..

but ya i do believe the coupes were all made in US. Mine was made in Ohio

but i think thats a nice lookin car... very clean and carries it's own style
