hey guys, i have some questions, and need some answers... I want to add a little hp/torque to my engine.. But don;t really know where to start. I mean i have a good start already but with the guidance of you guys i'll be able to get what i want.. I race autcross, not drag so hp and rpm is not a MAJOR issue for me. I figure you guys have been tuning these engines in depth for way longer than i have. Basically what i am asking is what would my best bang for the buck be to make some more hp. So far i'm running:

3" intake to an hks filter
2.5" exhaust, no cat large res and magnaflow muffler
Freshened up european accord bt1 <-(so i've been told)
when i bought the engine i went through it and re-ringed it, did all bearings, cleaned her up and basically just made it run like new again. I also have nology silverstone plugs, accel 8.5 mm wires, minor porting on: TB, intake manifold, head inlets and exits, exaust manifold. TB butterfly was polished and knife edged, cleaned injectors, and screens removed.. but i mean all mostly minor stuff... i want to get some more power out of her, but what can i do for a decent price. I know the things you are going to say are:
headder, Cam but what is there after that for mainly bolt on items, and i don't want to run nitrous so i can stay in stock class. i mean what would you all reccomend i have like 2000 to spend but i also want to do some techna fit lines and powerSLUT rotors and Aem pads... let me know what you think.. thanks

headers, hi flo cat, 2.25 inch pipes, cam, and some 10.5:1 pistons

did you read anything i wrote above? 2.5 inch pipe, no cat at all, big res to kill popping of no cat. i suppose i could buy a headder, but i want to know what would be my best bang for the buck

honestly a turbo kit

If you don't want to go for the turbo kit, which will definitely give you the most power (but may exceed $2000) the header and cam will still give decent power/$. It's just that after those two items doing much else with NA with get expensive quickly for how much (or little) power you're likely to gain.

What have you done to your suspension for autocross? Where I run nitrous is completely illegal and your non-stock springs alone would exclude your car from its stock class.

well it's not full on cstock (complete stock) it's street stock or also called street prepared. Basically meaning anything you would run on the street except no nitrous or turbo. and i want to stay in this class, cause in mod or outlaw (turbo/increased disp/nitrous is allowed) your also allow to run tires with the lowest treadwear rating you want. i'm running a set of highly modified kyb gr-2 struts and skunk2 coilovers. all poly everything and then the mount points on the stock prelude "special edition" swaybar have been tensioned for less movement. Special edition in canada meant the prelude got larger disc brakes front and rear, thicker sway bars, a full exterior package upgrade (big bumpers, smaller side mouldings, body colored bumpers, special edition taillights and a slightly different trunklid spoiler) and features like a/c and every power option you could think of, besides seats.

anyways but to my point, as i am going back to school now i don't think i'll have enough money all at one point to buy a cam and headder and coilpack and Fpr which are the things i want to do to start.. what one would i be best off with starting? like will i see the most gains from a headder to start with? cause i mean i could prolly do a coil and fpr to the price of a headder, so which should i do, the 2 or the headder and which will i see more gains from? know what i mean?

Don't listen to him he's got boost on the brain. Stick with N/A motor, high comp pistions, B16a intake manifold, cam, header, ignition upgrade.

does a b16a intake manifold really gain you that much? i have a hookup for a first gen jdm b16a intake manifold i can borrow to mate upto my head and it i get it done then i can buy it

well send me a copy of the rules and ll see if there a hole in there about head work. if there is then we can really open up some big power

I does help but I would get an aftermarket B16a intake manifold. THe stock one is better then the A20 but something like an STR intake has straight and round runners allow the least amount od ristriction. The STR's are about $300 but you can get other cheaper, as long as the runners are straight and round.

in ss/sp class there are no regulations on headwork on intake manifolds, it's basically like a street prepared class, where all the guys that normally would race on the street can race, they don;t have to prep their car for any type of class, as long as theyre 4 or 6 cyl, no forced induction and tires with treadwear of 200 or higher your in that class. i chose to build my car up for this class because it is 50% car 50% driver, and i like that. but basically i don;t want to spend tons because i am going back to school and in feb for a year. thats why i was looking at cam/headder/fpr/coil/intake mani

Well if you are short on money then just do more of the basic mods and wait for the intake and head work when you have more money.

to be competetive in SP youll need headwork. the other honda guys will walk you off the turns every time no matter how good you are.

Well of course but he also needs money for school. I'm the same way other wise I would have all ready gotten one of your head packages.

yeah i think i'm gonna do the cam and headder and then bump up the fuel pressure a bit.. that will bring me right on par with everyone else.. last season i was able to out hand/drive them but they had me for hp.. now we'll be on a level playing field
