I am pretty sure the Accord ones should work cuz the sei is basically a done up LXI interior wise. So engine wise it should be the same, i think the prelude ecu was the same as well i dunt remember which year tho :pimp:

You need one from an 88-89 ACCORD SE-i or LX-i, both will work. they are exactly the same.

Hey Carrotman do you know if the auto and manual cpu's are the same ?

hell I can answer that....NO they aren't a automatic ECU will not work in a Manual car....it has a sercuit that looks for teh "park" "signal from teh shifter console....adn seeing how a manual doesn't have this it won't work...same deal with manual it has a Clutch signal which the auto doesn't have...

The Auto ECU *WILL* work with a manual transmission. The ECU will simply think the car is in neutral all the time. The signals to not allow the engine to start when the car isn't in park or neutral, as well as the signal to not allow to start without the clutch depressed come from swiches in the respective areas.

For what ECU you can use, if you have an 86-87, you can only use ECU's from 86-87 models. Likewise if you own an 88-89, you can only use the ECU's from 88-89 models. If ytou dropped an SE-i ECU in your 87, you've probably figured that one out already.

I have been round and round with ECU's and I wish I could know for sure. I think the part numbers are diff. for the ECU's from 88 to 89. That doesn't mean they are not swappable. However, my car ran great til I got the AC fixed and the fast idle would NOT kick in after the AC was fixed (who knows what ECU was in there). Some ass had put the wrong ECU in my car, but it worked otherwise. I cannot explain that. If you have an 89 coupe, I believe the part number is Y-1 37820-PJ0-A03. It is stickered on the unit. Took the guy a long time to trace that problem in my car.
I have heard 73638383528 stories about whether the 3 door and 2 door federal ECU's are swappable or the 4 and 2 doors... or 3 and 4 doors. Just get the exact same ECU from the same body style. I don't think trans. type matters. If you get a wrong one, you will have a lot of silly issues.

EDIT-- Se-i engine is exactly the same as lx-i config, so the ECU's will be the same. "Special" meant cosmetics and BOSE
