My ideas include shaving the trunk (which should happen), molding the door handles, and shaving the side moldings.

yeah, it was totalled, front and rear was smashed, passenger side had rimple dents all over it. Paid $200 for it lol
my cousin wants to put it into shows to advertise for our business. I'm trying to get him to go a little more crazy with the body mods, but we'll see what happens.

is the car salvaged? or was it never claimed as salvaged?

kicker1_solo
12-04-2003, 07:22 PM
I don't think it was ever claimed as salvaged, not sure though. Some chick hit a semi on the freeway and spun a few times, hit the center divider, and then into the ditch with it.

hey kicker, you still trying to sub out work on the side. How much to shave the side mouldings on a coupe. Shave the emblem holes and make the 3g look a little cleaner. can you give me a warranty saying it wont rust through or fall off or anything like that.

kicker1_solo
12-04-2003, 08:48 PM
Yeah, I can give you a warranty saying that it won't rust or crack. I'd have to talk to my partner before giving you a price. Do you want it painted as well?

Not bad... But it your gonna do shows and advertise for your business you guys have to go all out... You won't win anything with a shaved car and show view hood. You guys need to go all custom from full custom fiber glass interior to full body kit and tons more...

But I guess if you just plan on doing shaving then it would be good, but I know show of the shop cars in Portland are crazy... Theres one car that started as an eclipse and now it has a full wide bofy molded on, supra rear end with custom exhaust comming through the rear bumper, and the front end is an S15, and the interior last time I saw it was crazy, fiberglass dash, sparco torinos and I think behind the rear seat he did a custom fiberglass sub enclosure with two 15"s, and then another shop has two Acura RSX's that must each be worth $50,000 after all the work done to them...

So talk your cousin into goin crazy...

Oh, can you give me a price on how much it would be to respray an 88 lxi's exterior only and fill a few dints???

kicker1_solo
12-04-2003, 09:20 PM
yeah, that's what I keep telling him, go crazy with it. But I dunno.
PM me about your car, give me a price range that you can afford, color, number of coats and such, and I can try to work with ya.

Used a frame puller in the shop.

My cousin's wife did the interior in vinyl.

that eclipse belongs to a guy who works at speed concepts. He said he did all that work himself, but i know for a fact he bought it from somebody else. He might have done a little after he bought it but for the most part, it was like that when he bought it.

Those RSX's are probably race designs. They have a couple like that.

Has she done it before? It looks good but that vinyl looks a tad thin. What kind of backing was on the vinyl? Was it a fuzzy, cotton like backing or did it look like a woven cloth backing. The only reason I'm asking is because the vinyl w/ the fuzzy backing is usually too thin for automotive use. It will last a while as long as it's not abused (getting in and out of the car a lot). For future reference you might want to make sure you get the thicker, cloth backed vinyl from an upholstery shop. It holds up a lot better and lasts a lot longer. The fabric that is gotten at places like Handcock Fabrics and Cloth World are usually an inferior grade for automotive use. This is just FYI for your next project. She did a great job though, especialy if it's her first time. A few wrinkles here and there but nothing that can't be smoothed out with a heat gun. :)

P.S.
I'll be the first and call BS on that 115 MPH pic.
Every time I've been over 100MPH I didn't have one arm draped over the wheel. :D

Hey Kicker,
Next time she does interior for you, make sure that every piece of vinyl is glued to 1/4 inch foam and then sewn together. That is what makes the material look thicker and lay out smoother without wrinkles.

ok pearl, if you get this the blazer is still there. Its off 67th and hilltop in the arlington maarysville area. Maybe someone who lives near there will be able to check it out. It was too dark by the time I passed it.

Kicker. Since its down there Ill probably get the paint done. i want the original color or something similar. maybe the 4th gen dark green. It would be cool to get pearl assents done in it. i would like enough coats of clear so I wont ever have to worry about it. Not 100 but more like a few more than stock. If you could rig up some custom fab. work. Id like the door handles shaved but at the very least swapped out to 4door rear handles to rid myself of the lock. lets start with the bodywork price and paint with orginal color. It needs to be nice enough to warranty and unfortunatly I worked in a body shop for around 5 years so i may nitpick. Id like the paint to be flat. I know the mirror is impossible but flat is very nice. Im not anal and if need be I can wetsand if its painted thick enough.
