View Full Version : Alternatives for OEM Honda Parts?

it's paid for

Before I get my engine back together, I'm going to need the following parts, which, I'm guessing can only be obtained from a Honda dealership:
Carburetor gasket
Lower timing belt cover
At least two cylinder head bolts
Crankcase timing indicator hole plug (for lack of a better name)
Am I stuck with going to a Honda dealership for all this stuff, or is there a reliable, economical alternative. I haven't found one, in fact, one parts store told me I had no choice, that only the Honda dealership would have these items, or could order them. I don't like that.

All the "usual" stuff I can get from my local parts place - timing belt, spark plugs, distributor cap, et cetera.

Thanks very much,

IPF

Dude. Replace all the head bolts.
The carb gasket can be foud easily
as for the rest go to the dealership. Or Majestic Honda, they are a good dealer on the net.

If you are good with an exacto knife then you can cut out your own gaskets... but the one gasket that I don't recommed making yourself is the gasket between the carb body and the carb top-hat.

Damn my engine never had the flywheel timing hole cover.
