O.k. I was bored, but this is why anyone would want to swap their boring automatic to a 5 speed.

My time slips indicate:

Quarter mile= 18.455 w/ automatic tranny
Quarter mile= 17.350 w/ 5 speed tranny

Just thought I'd share!

you should be able to push it high 16s.
I pushed my old carbed accord to 16.8s@80mph

I think I'm low 16's high 15's. I get about 88-90 mph at this one sign and it's going uphill (onramp) and it's exactly 1/4 mile. So I think if it was flat I would be doing a lot better.

$500 sounds about right with a new OE clutch. More if you want a better clutch. It can be done in a weekend with 2 people, the right tools and some motivation.

The insurance going up is just a guess from someone who does not know what they are talking about. I have owned a auto and a manual and they are roughly the same to insure. Actually the 3G is a little less, the other was a 88 pickup truck with an automatic.

well, if u convert to 5 speed, u'd have the difference in performance, but u'd have to learn how to drive first too!!!
hahaha, my 3rd day driving stick. starting to get the hang of it.
i swear, everyone wants to race a civic with exhaust. even worse when i'm trying just not to stall. hahaha

I think they are trying to say 2300 but it would have to pretty stripped down to get that low.

A stick on a 4 cylinder will last longer than an automatic anyway. Plus it is more fun to drive.

even the newer v6 accords were about a second faster in the 1/4 with the 6 speed vs the auto

How many gears does the auto have on the newer accord? 4 or 5?

lude si is the same as LXI in gears 1 and 2, after that lude si has shorter gears for 3, 4, and 5. LX has shitty final drive, unless youre going for a turbo car or gas milage

well it is all fun and games untill you shifter get fucked up! Now with my tranny I need a 6th gear to get a real good highway crusing speed. I might just put my accord diff back in.
