I am making slow but sure progress in my car. Got the springs, and am going to bring home the front end body parts I need, and am drwing out plans for my altezzas. But I am still being haunted with a problem... I don't know what colors to use on my engine theme (that would look good with a black car). I was going to use blue, but there is a stupid poser at my school with a 90 CRX, and all his accessories, and engine junk is blue, and it looks really cheesy. I was going to go with red, but black is always cliche'edly (made up word) matched up with red. So, If I could get your guys' opinion, taht would be great...

(BLUE &BLACK= :barf:

Now that I see it on a 3g, it dosen't look that bad... I might go with red, my spark hoses are red already, so that would be good... nice cars you guys.

Is taht a 2g teg bumper kicker?

Maybe, you live in Washington don't you?
If you save it until the next Washington meet, I will concider it. But I don't want to go to any meets until I fix my front end. Would everyone at the meet hate me 'cause I'm a n00b? Or have I made big enough of an impact that some of the guys know me?

-How much... :)

I try to keep pretty much everything in my engine bay the stock color theme of mostly black, I just keep it clean. I have added some red things like the filter on the intake and some wires, but I haven't painted anything. I don't really like wire looms either, I'd rather have colored wires than cover the wires themselves. Keeping the engine bay pretty low key also enhances the sleeper aspect of the car IMO http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/4/web/436000-436999/436530_73_full.jpg

Hey Kicker, I know that you dont want to ship the bumper, but taking it into consideration, how much would you want for it shipped to zip 18944? I just saw the one pic of it up above and it became very appealing to me. PM me with a reply. Actually im gonna pm this to you as well.

Yellow and black. But just go easy on the yellow... if you overdress the engine it will look bad. More black with small yellow accents. :D

i like silver..it's real low key, a little more difficult to do but it flows with a mellow style on black

Please don't take over this man's thread, if you have a question about the bumper, PM me. But to answer your questions, I won't ship the bumper. I had it sold but the cheapest place that I could find to ship it wanted $200+ just to ship. So local buyers only please. I'll even deliver to local people. And no shane, we don't hate anyone that shows up to meets. Only the retards that ask stupid questions on here. :)

I would say the best way to get the accord engines clean is to get rid of most of the unappealing wires and hoses. I really like the way old school swap did his. Not because its a engine swap but because the engine draws your center of attention to it and not the wires and clutter and junk.

Speaking of which when is the next washingtom meet? Id like to see that bumper in person and maybe take it off your ahnds the same day. Sorry for the post whore and I like all the cars on this thread. A20a is the coil actually mounted ther like that?

shane_lxi

So far, 300700's engine looks the most appealing to me. I like the stock black, and subtle red accents. I think I am going to go with taht color. Oh, I am planning on organizing a meet in Olympia when I get a little more done on my car (in about 2-3 months) at that time, I beleive it will be ME that takes the lovely bumper off his hands....... lol

- may the best man win.... the bumper...

Yup, I made a custom beracket... I wanted to fill up the space between the valve cover an the passenger side of the car. It worked out great and it's pretty much the same size as the valve cover too... I don't care for the silvery sticker on the coil but I would probably make it look worse if I tired to remove it.

Anyone here have clear wires?
I remeber seeing a bike with clear wires and they lit up when the power ran thru them. I'd get them if I had a clear hood... and was into show type mods. But I'm not. :D

no prob, I have been checking out ebay, and I think I am going to get a full 4 door tag kit, and mess with it a bit, I don't know if the side skirts will fit though. Thanks though! :)

kicker1_solo
12-11-2003, 10:00 PM
that's a waste of money cause you will have side skirts that don't match up too well, and a rear that won't match up too well either :D

shane_lxi
12-11-2003, 10:20 PM
whatchu mean? I don't know about the sideskirts, but won't the rear bumper work fine, I was going to use the licence plate holder on the bumper instead of the other one if taht is what you mean?

my 3 color engine bay combo is:
- chrome intake piping and headers
- silver engine block, tranny, and intake manifold,
- anodized blue, red, gold, or green (depending on color of car) on valvecover, strut bar, battery tie down, caps, fuse box, vacuum box, and other minor accents like hose clamps.

Enjoy! :D

Actually the cai is sold, so you'll get a short ram with it which will be a polished color. The valve cover has a couple chips in it, so you could redo that if you wanna change the colors.

shane_lxi
12-19-2003, 05:18 PM
If I ever DO get a hold of you, I probably redo the valve cover black, I think it would look cool, looks cool now though.

very nice. looks like kicker's, but a little darker red, like blood. Are you guys rattle canning these, or getting them professionally painted? It looks good, not like it came out of a spray can, but I really can't tell...

adams86lxi
12-19-2003, 05:46 PM
i spraypainted it with spray paint from walmart. Ford red is the color, its high temp ceramic paint. It looks proffessionaly done in real life.

shane_lxi
12-19-2003, 05:52 PM
It must be model paint, my dad bulds models and he has some of that crap laying around the house. It comes in like really small spray cans right? I think he has that color too. It must chip easily though...

It's engine paint for real cars, not model cars :)

shane_lxi
12-19-2003, 05:58 PM
Well both engines look good. Must just be the cameras or lighting that makes them look different... yeah, we have a can of that in the garage for my dad's models. It looks really good on models, even better on engines! The only thing is that it says 'high quality model spray' right on the can, so my dad must buy someting other than you guys.

I am definately getting kicker's car. Thanks for hte props :D, I m trying not to be an annoying newbie, and I htink I am successful thus far :d. I have already made a sort of verbal agreement with kicker, and I wouldn't go checkin' out other cars unless the thing with kicker's car dosen't work out, and so far it i going well, so I am definately gtting :D. Yeah, I hope to make the car look REALLY good, but I dont know if I could take the interior design and color matching that you did in your 3g

Has anyone ever done a polished look? It looks good in any engine bay. I have some free time so Im gonna bust out my Dremel and do the valve cover, civic intake and some brackets if it warms up a bit this weekend.

Not like a rock
01-10-2004, 12:03 AM
Shane, your / kicker's car has the plastic moulding around the headlights painted white (so you only see it when the lights are up)... am I correct? I really like that and think it works very well. Maybe you could carry that theme over into the engine bay. Or it might just get dirty and look like crap.

I don't think white would be too hot for the engine bay, it would get really dirty in rainy, muddy, dusty ol' Washington :D. I think I will stick with the red and black look for the engine bay, and white and black for the interior...

That would look sweet if a guy had the time, he could make the engine bay look really clean... I am anxious to see how it looks :D
