yesterday i got my oil changed in the accord with 20W-50 and when i got in the car to leave it didint want to stay on after i started it. I finally got it to start and i left. Is this because it was cold outside now and i got thick oil or what? Also i want to change the oil in the transmission. I know it hasent been changed in a while not sure how long though. Should i just fill it to the proper level or should i change it with some 10W-30 oil and throw some lucas transmission fix in with it, or will some gear oil work better, and also should i use synthetic or normal. The syncros in second are starting to go too will this help it at all. Im asking this because i heard if you havent changed the transmission oil in a while its bad for the transmission if you change it. Thanks

I use 20W50 in the summer, and 10W30 in the winter. My car runs good like that. Of course I use Royal purple full synthetic with a K&N filter.

Bah, synthetics rule whenever you can use them. I use it in the tranny with a bottle of Lucas oil stabilizer.

so should i drain my transmission and put synthetic 10W-30 with some lucas. Or is it not safe for me to change it since it hasent been changed in a while. I think i might take it in to get it changed, the fill bolt is stuck on their real tight and i cant get it off.

No you can only put Honda Transmission fluid in the tranny. Either ATF or MTF. You can add lucas stabilizer to that. There's maybe one other tranny fluid but I can't remember what it was, but you can never go wrong with Honda fluids. It's only like $3 a quart and you need like 3 quarts to do it. I have been wanting to change it for awhile. I just keep forgetting. I got the Honda MTF too.

What are you talking about? Only Honda Transmission Fluid? Uh no, you can put whatever you want in there.

It would be smart to stick with Honda fluids.

I am all about the lucas and tranny oil I would use lucas tranny fix and 10w-30 from valvoline ( what helped my bad syncros a hella lot) OR Lucas tranny fix and Honda MTF (what I use now never tried with bad syncros.)
