Well I just recently picked up this 88LX AUTO (yeah I know) for about 800 bux. Interior and exterior are in pretty good shape. Engine runs pretty good (has 203K on it). So this is what I will be starting with.

Still planning on what I want to do with it. Any ideas or suggestions let me know.

Not bad at all for $800. Welcome aboard. Let's see the work in progress too if it's possible.

Since I am new to all of this. I am not sure if I am going to work the exterior first and then the engine work or vice versa. I am planning on getting it painted eventually, and redoing the interior. It has the dk gray/lt gray interior. I want to go almost all black with white accents and paint the car black with a silver type metallic flake in it. Once I get the money, I plan on throwing a Weber in there... and take it from there.

Welcome to the board man. Personally, I'd go with engine work first. There's nothing like wooping someone's ass in a totally stock looking car. I've yet to do it but hopefully summer I can.

I will take pictures as I go but it will be a slow process. USAF keeps me very busy, and this car is an everyday driver. Any recommendations for engine mods/work? You can PM me if I am here or send email or catch me as NotANonner on yahoo.

nice clean car. 5spd swap would be my first priority. Quite a few members here have done it and it sounds like its not that hard of a job.

I am planning on doing that carb swap to a weber and do the headers, intake and exhaust for now. Personally don't like stick too much... but we will see what I can do with a stock looking auto with that stuff.

Well you better love the maual casue the autos are so damn slow it is not even funny. For a tip please search stuff before and then if you are having problems then ask.

No offense, but if you are new to engine work, you would have to spend lots of money to get the car to be "fast". So in my opinion, I would go with comfort and visual mods like stereo, fog lights, interior painting/prelude seat swap. Welcome!

There is so much good information to be found abroad the boards......the SEARCH button works great and I still use it after being here for going on 1.3 years. Any decent questions you have and I would be more than happy to answer them.

Yeah, definately go with a tanny swap. My old totaled one was slower then shit! Welcome to the board. If it is auto, I would not worry about the engine that much, since you will not be able to see much of an improvement in the car's performance, since it is auto and all (trust me :P) So try to make the exterior nice, then worry about the engine. Just slap an intake on for now, and paint the valve cover. Then clean it up a bit, if it is dirty that is, I know the rest of the car isn't. You have a couple options for body kits too. Teg bumpers, and 90-91 accord for the rest of the car looking the best IMO. And those colors would be mint! Sounds like you want stock black honda interio/exterior with white vinyl accents. That's what I plan on doing to my new 3g too. Enjoy the site, everyone here is pretty friendly, minus a few guys who don't like newbies... :( unfortunately.
