I am having problems with my timing.
here is the story.
When i bought the car it had automatic tranny. so i got rid of that. i used flywheel from carbed motor. and tranny from carbed motor.
anyway, since i set my timing to "T" the car is not as responsive as it was when i had distributor set to all the way advanced.
so here is what my question is: Can flywheel from carbed motor can be that diff.? i mean "T" is "T" no matter what motor that is, right?
So what is my car's problem than?

From what I got looking at part numbers they are intechangeable. It shows PN 53224 for all the ones I looked up. You set your timing to T?????? It should be set to the 15 degree mark BTDC. I beleive thats stated on the sticker under the hood. Met me know If I'm off track here Alex

i think i know what i did wrong. i set the timming by Top dead senter and not deg.
now the question is where is 15 deg on carbed flywheel. the carbed flywheel has 24 deg.
can some one take a picture of distributor bolt relativly to the distributor. i may be able to get it close just by looking at the picture.
thanks.

So you want me just to take a pic of the distributor bolts? I can do that if that's what you want.

I did the same thing, carb tranny, carb flywheel, and my timing seems to be off just a little as well.

I had the same prob with my EFI swap. I can't remember which way to turn the distrubitor but you will need a timming light and set it to the 24 mark first then advance or retart it to as close as possible to where the 18 mark would be at.

The only way to get it perfect is get another flywheel and do it your self or have some one that really knows what they are doing and they can get really close to the missing 18 deg mark.

well it is running fine right now. i still have the AT plate so in a few month when i am swaping trannies i will mark the flywheel for EFI.
