A/F ratio electronics?

hey guys,
are there any air/fuel monitors for our cars? something that can monitor and adjust air/fuel ratio.
i thought Nopi used to sell venom but i can't find it.

Go directly to Venoms web site and I think they do make a box that does that.Get the part # and Summit carries Venom.

In case someone is interested in a cheap way to monitor the A/F ratio, 10$ is enough to build the meter yourself: http://scirocco.dyndns.org/tech/misc/afgauge/af.html I already bought the led-bar and the other parts myself, until I noticed that my Accord doesn't have the O2-sensor!! (we don't have the emission stuff in older cars). So, currently I'm wondering if I should start drilling a hole into my header to put the O2-sensor in. :rolleyes:

well, i am not sure about europe but i know people in the US and Canada have at least one O2 sensor.
plus i think O2 sensor is mandatory if you have EFI. i know paul from Russia he has O2 sensor on his aerodeck.

Yes I know... you can imagine how stunned I was when I didn't find the O2-sensor in my car. There definitely isn't one in the stock header I've got, neither did I find the sensor in the downpipe. My exhaust side is identical with the one shown in the Shop Manual page 9-4 "European Model Engine and KY Model Engine", and there really is no O2-sensor. All the other models do have the O2-sensor.

I've been wondering since how the hell my EFI works if the ECU gets no O2-sensor input. Guess it's just like this: "Speed density fuel injection airflow calibration systems use the speed of the engine and the density of the air, along with a sensor that measures manifold vacuum, to calculate engine airflow." (taken from High-Performance Honda Builder's Handbook) Based on that, the ECU knows how much air is going into the engine, and then with all the other inputs it can just look up from the maps how much gas needs to be injected. Basicly that's the only possible solution (?) since there definitely is no MAS-sensor (Mass Air Sensor, the "hot wire" sensor) in Honda PGM-F1 EFI. Please correct me if I'm wrong, this is how I figured it out.

As a matter of fact, with all the info above, I am really interested in to buying a cheap aftermarket O2-sensor just to see what A/F ratio I'm really running.

My 2 cents.
The stock O2 sensor has a near 1/0 charactersic.
Sensor developed to indicate only RICH or LEAN and can't indicate a values as span.
If O2-indication is reach, PGMFI try to make it lean by AF Ration correction. If lean - try to reach. And this "ping-pong" is controlled by ECM.

I drove my Euro A20A3 with O2sensor connected to voltmeter. IMHO nothing interesting.
Indication during normal driving is ~0.5V - value of "ping-pong" avaraged by voltmeter. When I open trottle (kick pedal) the voltage rise for few second to ~0.8V, when I close the trottle on 3000rpm the voltage decraese for few second to ~0.1V. in both cases after this few seconds voltage become to ~0.5V.
First half of hour that war very interesting to see this crazy jumping digits and bar in the bottom of display. But then...

What you want is a Wideband O2 Sensor this is what the guys on HMT highly recommend and are good for tuning. They are not cheap for a kit though its like $400-$500 for a nice setup but is supposed to be a decent setup.

Yea getting better O2 sensors would help a lot and you can't go wrong with APEXi, they have some pretty good electronics.
