I have an '89 LXI and sometimes I will crank it over and it won't start. HOwever, if I put the gas pedle to the floor it will start.

I think has have two leaky injectors; could this be part of the problem?

Straight up that could be your problem, plus plugs, wires, coil, fuel pump, fuel filters.....

Also throw some fuel injector clean in the gas tank.

when you put the gas peddle to the floor it doesn't pump any gas to the motor when your starting it. sounds like the problem to me

If the "sometimes" when this happens is when the engine is fully warmed up, and you turn it off and then try to start it, like 5 minutes later, then your ECT sensor is bad. :beat:

The car starts when I put the pedle to the floor(clear flood mode) so how could that be the problem?.

Do you think the leaky injectors could be flooding my engine?

i've never heard of that and i have leaky injectors so i doubt it...it's definitly something with the fuel, but i would rule out injectors.

If the starting problems happen like I stated, the reason I mentioned the ECT sensor, is that a bad sensor will cause the ECU to think it's trying to start a "cold" engine, even shen it's fully warmed up. When the ECM "sees" a start signal and a cold signal at the same time it increases the injector PW from the normal running width of 2-3ms to as high as 100ms. A hot engine typically can not handle this much fuel, and the engine floods.
Now if you have to hold the pedal down even with a cold engine to get it to start, then yes, it's possible that your injectors are leaking. If so, have you tried a fuel injector cleaner?

Yeah I probably need to run some fuel cleaner as the car had been sitting for quite some time. Has anyone used SeaFoam?
