My LX has 60,000 miles on it, and wasn't driven regularily until I took ownership April of 03.

Lately in the cold weather, there is a low RPM flat spot. It feels if the car is running out of fuel.

What can I do to clean the carb, without actually taking it off the intake?

Thanks in advance.

Buy carb cleaner. I hear the stuff you put in the gas tank is the best for it. It gets in everywhere the fuel does. Just make sure it's carb cleaner and not fuel injector cleaner. The spray stuff can be used to clean off the linkages on the outside.

you can get the can stuff and spray into the carb, that may clean some dirt off. it sounds like you may need to replace the fuel filters.

Yes, you're right. That was next on the list.

Thanks!

A good thing to do is to get a bottle of spray carb cleaner, its only a buck. Take off the top of the air cleaner, change the filter if it looks bad, and spray some through the metal screen for about 3 seconds. Then start the car, rev it a few times and kill the engine. Then have someone hold down the gas pedal and spray in some more. Then start it again. Do that a few times to make sure there is no crud around the venturies. If you remove the screen on top of the carb with 2 10mm bolts you can get a better view but it is not nessasary. Do that along with a bottle of cleaner in the gas tank and the filters and that should take care of any fuel problems you have. There is also a possibility your pump may be going bad but I doubt it.
