I have an 89 Accord SEi with an automatic trans. When I come to a stop and am idling I get a lot of vibration in the steering wheel and can hear things in the car rattleing. Has anyone had this problem and solved it. My car has 224,000 miles on it and is in good mechanical condition overall. the eninge rpms are around 750 during idling. I would apreciate any suggestions as to what this might be.

The idle speed is correct. How do the motor mounts look? There's a fluid damped mount on the front of the engine and rubber mount on each side and another behind the engine. There's also a torque strut on the top of the engine, but that's not likely to contribute to your problem. If any of these are cracked or the fluid has leaked out of the front mount, replacing the bad mount(s) should correct the problem. Do not get a solid front mount if yours is bad, the Honda part damps vibration much better.

It would also be wise to check your transmission mounts and grommets.
