I'd like to see what everyone else has. Post subwoofer(s), amplifier(s), speakers, etc.

Here's what I got:
Head Unit: Panasonic CQ-DF201U AM/FM/CD (it's crap; waiting for my Eclipse CD8053 deck to get in stock at local car audio shop)
Front Speakers: Alpine 2-way Coaxials (unpowered)
Back Speakers: Alpine Components (powered)
Subwoofer: JL Audio 12W3v2
Sub-Amplifier: Concept CC-1252L, 125 watts x 2 channel, bridged @ 4 ohm
Speaker-Amplifier: some crappy Kenwood amp that I got for free, 50 watts x 2 channel (still better than nothing).

Unfortunately my soundstaging sucks right now... no tweeters installed, poor imaging, and haven't switched my front and back speakers. And now I need sound deadening supplies. Well, it gives me more to work on. Yay. :)

Your turn...

I am insane

head is a Sony MP3 unit, I can't recall the model now, it's the one that turns all black when it's off and it flips down for the controls and to load/unload disk

I just fried the crossover, MTX 3way, so now it's all by the H.U.

Front - 2 Cerwin Vega 6 1/2 each side, need to buy the mids (cooked em!), 1 c.v. tweeter (150 watts!)
Rear - Klipsch Horn Mids and Tweets, fried 1 of my 8" midbasses tho so I need to buy a new pair
Subs- 2 15" Volfenhags (they take 1200 watts a piece but I won't be pushing them that hard)

Amps - a pair of Sony Mobile ES 7554 amps bridged to 8 ohm loads, 1 amp front, 1 amp rear. The bass is handled by an Infinity Digital 300 class D that puts out 1000x1 RMS to the pair of subs wired for 4 ohms

Next comes the DVD/TV combo but I need to buy that still, I have my eye on something that should work out pretty damn good

Nah, I think I'll keep it this way so the amps wont overload and plus I would probaly need one 2000 watt amp which could be more expensive than these three!!
And I am not talking about those cheap Lanzar ones :D. And besides, these Audiobahn chrome amps and a high quality kenwood amp makes my setup not only look powerful but play like *THUNDER* and pierce the air like *LIGHTNING*!!!!!!!
Once I get it all done you will not only see this incredible home-made installation but imma have the db tested to see (im mean hear) what I have created  :jaw:

Nah cool cat none yet and hopefully never. The boss amps are ok, nothign special but they work. I'm not really into it all that much. It's way too much to have both on when i'm not competing against someone or at a comp. So I usually leave the L7's at home so they don't get all messed up just bumping around.

i want a system so bad, but my car is definately on its way out, and i don't wanna spend all that money on a system, then have to take it out or sell it in less than a year. Plus i don't even know where to start. I think "well, i want new speakers b/c mine sound so crappy, but then i might have to get an amp to push them b/c my tape player isn't very powerful. If i have to get an amp, i might as well get subs, and if that happens, then i should just scrap my tape player and get a nice cd player so that i have something pumping out those nice tunes." and it ends up being a huge thing. I've though about just getting a box system(crappy subs, crappy amp, box) for a couple hundred bucks, but i really do have some shitty speakers. Maybe one day...

cadence are by far the best speakers i have ever heard, the component seperate woofer and tweeter setups are even batter, i have coaxials for now, but those 4 x 6's are nuts, they can be wired for full range or high range only responding at 90 hz +, needless to say, with my eq i have them on high and those highs are super high, metal screams out of them. For subs, they're great as well, but if i had to choose, id take MMATS subs, those speakers are very good though, go get some

i dont think thats a great idea, get coaxials with aimable tweeters or super tweeters to place your sound, putting a speaker in the middle sounds kind of hick to me, if you have it set up right, your sound should seem eye level, plus most receivers, even EQs dont support center channels in a car, its left and right, save up for a real component system with independent woofers and tweeters if coaxials dont solve this

its hard to find cadence on ebay, but i do have a lisensed dealer in town that got me hooked on them, his prices are tolerable, but he'd have to ship to you so i would just find a model you're interested in, and hunt for it online

My Setup:

HU: Pioneer 3550MP
Front: Pioneer 4" 150w Front Speakers with seperate tweeters
Rear: Panasonic 3 way 6x9's 180w

Not the best setup in the world but does me fine. Once im earning a few more $$$ i want to bet at least 1x15" sub in the boot with an an amp and maybe some new, more powerful 6x9's, and an amp to drive them aswell.

Ill get some pics up later.

I also need to put some foam or something in the rear 'door' panels as such, have a hatchback, to stop this annoying rattle i have when i crank the system up. I think one of the clips keeps popping out.

Anyone have any decibel ratings for their set-up?
decibel is the rating of signal to noise ratio....and i think it mainly depends on your head unit. most likely if its a good cd deck, its probably rated around 98db. anything over 150 will blow your ears and/or do brain damage. some1 correct me if im wrong.

nice going with the JL subs, u might want to get a better head unit and amp if you want to use your subs to their full potential.

Actually, the amp is just fine, the HU is the problem. The amp can push in excess of 600 true watts if wired correctly.

well ive seen systems hit over 170db, however no one was in the car, and it was walled out with like 12 subs in a car like a ford festiva, it was pretty nuts, and yea i think ear damage starts at 150db or something like that

my current setup in my 4dr is:

HU: Sony 8805? (active black panel)
fronts: Infinity Reference 5.25" 2-way
rears: Infinity Regerence 6x9's 3-way
subs: 2 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect VQ's (400W RMS SVC) in a sealed box(about .8 cubic ft per sub, twice as big as i wanted, but still sounds awesome and tight)
amp: PCX-2200, 400Wx2 @ 2ohms, bridged at 800W @ 2ohms
monster cable 4AWG wire running to the amp, and i keep blowing my 80amp fuse too :(
sounds awesome, freaking awesome clarity yet it still hit's those low notes.

when my 2-dr is done, it has Infinity Kappa's for the mids, and i'm gonna power them with either a 4 channel or 2 2 channel amps, plus it's gonna have my subs and deck outta the 4dr. and i'm gonna run new wires to all the mids.

HU - Pioneer (don't remember model # b/c it's about 3 yrs old) CD, flip down, 25w x 4 RMS Mosfet, Remote, ONLY I rca preout for sub(I regret this)

Front - Jensen add-on tweeters (detached but still in the pods mounted to the dash)
Kenwood Excelon components, mounted in stock location w/tweeter flush mounted 1/2 in. in front of the door handle plastic, (dual mag type) 6.5" woofer, handle 50w RMS

Rear - Roadmaster 6 x 9s in enclosures mounted on end from floor of trunk pointing towards front of car (I have it so these are not sent high frequencies, HU FIE function)

Sub - Jensen poly cone w/ huge surround XS series 10in sub, 250w RMS, in too small of a sealed enclosure (guessing about 1/2 foot volume, maybe a bit more).
Powered by a cheap-ass Optimus 200w max amp, 2-channel, bridged and gain set to the max, lasted a few years at this setting so I guess it is not that bad.

Purchased but not yet installed:
Solid brass gold plated battery terminal (just b/c I couldn't resist the bling factor)
4 to 8ga. dual amp Scosche wiring kit (only $25 from walmart)
Lightning Audio 50w RMS x 2 amp, forget what series, it was only $45 on a half price sale. This will power the Kenwoods but if it doesn't sound clean I'll just hook it up to the sub and get a better one for the Kenwoods. I just hope it sounds somewhat descent since I have to use either a LOC for the high level inputs to power the front speakers since my HU didn't come with front RCA pre-outs, then again I may just sell my old HU and get one that has front and rear pre-outs instead of buying another amp, but hopefully the current setup will sound good enough for me.
Since the old setup with one amp already dims my lights I am also going to be buying a capacitor real soon to fix that problem, probably just a 1/2 farad since the RMS output of the amps will be below 500watts.

Pictures of all of this are at my website if anyone cares (its listed in my sig.).

Screen: 15" BenQ LCD
Inverter: Eliminator 800w

EDIT: With the system I have here I hit 144db and won 2nd place in a SQ competition at a car meet. Next year I should win it, I'll have a full 6.1 setup, and have the sub powered better and in a better tuned box (45hz right now, wanting <40)

Head Unit: Pioneer mp3 player.
Door Speaks: Pioneer 2-ways
Rear Deck Speaks: horribly blown Jensen 1-ways.
Amplifier: Rockford Fosgate 450S 450Watts RMS
Subwoofer: Infinity 1030W 250Watts RMS
Sub Box: Custom-built slot-ported tuned to 35Hz (built myself)

Ok, story about the bottom end (the sub and amp for you lay men and women). Bought the amp along with 2 memphis 12's in a box. the guy said the speakers are good, but the amp overheats. $100 for the setup. Not a bad deal eh? So, I hook it all up, and what do ya know, the amplifier works just dandy. No problems except I had to buy a bass boost knob from Rockford. Decided I didn't need 2 12's worth of boom, so I sold the 12's in the box for $150. I now have $50 and a free amplifier. I buy the Infinity sub off ebay for $25 (still $25 in the good), hook it up in my custom box, and 1 day later it's pushin' no sound at all. Fried it! Well, I got a deal on the Sub, so no big deal, might as well see if I can fix it. Took the Sub all the way apart, and I mean all the way. Found out after looking at it a little the problem was a simple wire going from the terminal on the sub to the coil. Didn't need to take the sub all the way apart. Oh well, I got a deal on the sub, wouldn't hurt to see if I can put it back together. I get the sub back together after quite a hassle of getting it lined up....there is very little room for error when lining up the coil with the magnet. Anyway. Subs working again, pounding hard as ever, and I have spent a total of -$25. I'm a happy Camper. Thanks for reading my novel.
