I thought this car was a steal and couldnt give it up, plus its fun as heck to drive! Its a 1983 Honda Civic "S" (sport) I didnt even know they had these or ever seen one till this one. Its got a 1500cc engine, 5 speed manual, bucket seats, and "premium wheels" (well at least they were premium in 1983) The car is suprisingly quick for its age, and check out the mileage!!! I dont know if the motor was ever rebuilt or swapped. Its got a few bumps and dents but they are located on the rear so you cant see them. Enjoy the pics!

nice little car man....I used to have one just like it but it wasn't the sport edition and it was brown, an 82 I believe. The back was rusted to hell (right below the rear windshield wiper) That was a pretty reliable and fuel efficient car. Good find.

Wow...that's pretty nice! The body looks to be in really nice shape and very clean for the age and miles, and for that price....damn. Don't let the miles scare ya (you're pretty close to me, hehe), just make sure the t-belt is good. So it runs pretty good then I take it? You'll probably get damn good mileage with that thing too!

Good find! Not too often you see an oldie like that in real good shape :)

ran through my first gas tank. 300 miles on 8 gallons, not bad eh? the car does smoke a bit when i start it up so i think its got a bad head gasket or something. once the car warms up it doesnt smoke.

Sweet, that thing looks to be in nice shape. Has the frame started to rot out though, or has it been repaired. Look on the passenger side frame rail where it starts to curve up infront of the wheel well. That problem has ended the life of more the one old civic. Devinitely a fun car. There are quite a few sites devoted to hoping them up.

Damn man any car that runs for under $500 is good but one in that condition is awesome... I bet you putting a stock keihin 3rd gen 2bbl carb on that would give you a nice cheap performance boost!

I remember those!! I always wanted that package (S), but they were always rusted out too bad. That is tight and for the money... I will tell you this. START BUYING PARTS FOR IT!! I mean, axleshafts, starter, alternator, etc. Why? Because on my 81 Accord, it is HELLA hard to find parts, so I hit up ebay to get cheap stuff. Belts, hoses, brake pads, etc. are easy to find, but the other stuff is getting obsolete. I scored the following off ebay for $150 SHIPPED and NO CORE RETURNS!!

Both axles (rblt) for the 81 Accord
Driver side axle (rblt) for my 89 Accord
Rebuilt starter for 81
Rebuilt alternator for 81

Everything seems to be special order, not made anymore, or bring the old one in... You think finding parts for your 3g Accord is tough, try going farther back...

They're out there dude. My 81 Accord HB came out of Arlington, TX and it is SPOTLESS. You southerners have it made for older imports. ALL of them are rusted out up here. I've seen a couple of those Ludes on ebay. Personally, I think the 1st gen. Ludes are not as good looking as the 1st gen Accords, but they were so far ahead of their time it isn't even funny. The Qualude as they were called... with the tach. inside the speedometer or the other way around. You'll find one...

Yeah, even though they're not rusted out it is tough to find them not ragged out. The friend whose parents bought her a brand new 83 Accord when we graduated high school had bought her a brand new 81 or 82 Qualude (We called tham that, too) before that and handed it down to her younger sister. Tough life, isn't it?

I also used to know a guy in my bike club who had an 83 Accord 5 speed and he sold it in 86 to buy a brand new 3g DX hatch. That 83 was super clean and had something like 30K miles on it. If I only had money back then. I was just a poor college student.

I also had another friend who had both 75 and 77 Civics. I barely fit in those care they were so tiny.

Hindsight, you know how it is.

I know all about hindsight so I jumped on that 81 Accord HB with 105K, one owner, LIKE NEW. I'm sooo glad I didn't let it slide by cuz I haven't seen one as nice since. I was scared buying it sight unseen, but they had like 40 pics and the dudes were honest as fawk about it. CARFAX helped, too. I love the lil 81. Civics before 81 or 82 scare me; they were so small and underpowered (1300cc I think). You'll find one though!!

Man nice find. I love the older hondas. My dad used to have a civic something like that too back 20 years ago. I'd love to have one of those old civics but they're so hard to find where I live. Cars rust out so fast up here.

Yea salt is a real bitch. My parents had a '95 Jetta and it was already starting to rust by '99.

please excuse the thread revival, but i think a few of you may find my dad's 1978 Honda Civic 1200 to be something a little different from the everyday

http://www.clanbbw.com/publicimg/data/images/78civic.jpg

it's a little dirty, but almost totally rust free. the engine finally gave up the ghost because the thrust bearing wore down and caused serious knocking, so my dad retired it in late 2000...BUT we have another complete 1200cc engine for the car, my dad is building it all out... GL1000 pistons, 1300 crankshaft, EB3 head...etc. etc.

just thought some of you might enjoy it :)

some guy locally had an 83 1.3L Civic for sale for 400 but it's rusted I am thinking of getting that and dropping a b16 in it....

my friend fgot a 82 1.3L Civic about a year ago, it didnt run the doors were rusted shut and it smelled like mold, it was horrid but it rocked I was so envious of him, and best of all, it was FREE
