ah, thats nice. thats pretty much what im going for, with red accents. i have that same valve cover to paint red. what paint did you use to paint the valve cover? i was going to paint mine with red engine paint 500 degree, or get it powder coated red.

Where'd you get it from?

i used the new krylon fusion paint... its not rated to the engine temp but it sticks to bare aluminum very well... i have ran it for a while and it stays hard even at temperature. the valve cover is from a 85 prelude with the dual cv carbs... ive seen them before at the junkyard and finally got one for the heck of it... i think it kinda gives it an old school look :)

Looking good man. That valve cover really stands out well. The accent is pretty nicely done. Is the valve cover easy to take off, for all who have painted it? If I am correct, it is just losening a couple screws holding it down right?

Looks nice what made you get rid of the B20A? I think someone maybe it was you was sick of engine codes coming up but i dont remember for sure.

Oh i was wondering if you have any good side shots of when the B20A was it. Im trying to see how much room their is for clearence for my WG. I wasnt so worried about it before cause i did check and it was in a point where there wasnt a cross support on the hood but i know its going to be real close.

Holy shit, you finally put that valve cover on, it's been sittin in your garage for about 4 months now as well as the header.........Forgot to mention that i helped you though (watched you more than helped though) ...............Did you just drill a hole to put the spark plug wire holder?Looks hella tight on there.......but mine's better. J/K.

P.S. Looks like the same silicon vaccuum kit i used :321:

I'm kind of interested how you attached the spark plug wires to the side of the valve cover.

i accually drilled small holes in the valve cover and put little tiny studs in... then i got some of the taylor wire looms and put them on... wheres the b20a??? i was going to sell my accord, which is why i took the b20a out (i dint want anyone to get the car and then have it break with no knowledge or parts for that engine) but then i ended up keeping it because it gets way better gas milage then my turbo celica

Cool, Iv been looking at my WG lately and i think its going to just fit it sticks up about the same as the timing belt cover so if anything i may have to trim a little of the support if its in the way. I want to go out and do some measurements but its to damn cold and its not like im going to fix it right away so when it warms up im going to look into it a bit more just to be safe.

The A20A3 looks nice though!

thanx rob... i know its not as oppulent as the b20a but it gets the gas milage... usually 275-300 a tank.. i know on a trip i took i got 417 outa a thank once

Damn thats good i usually get high 200's or just cut 300 as well not with the Automatic though. I cant wait to see how high gas gets in the summer when i have the turbo on. Me and Steve are going to spend a fortune on gas if it goes up as high as it has some summers in the past.

i still have yet to see a painted valve cover that i like and would want to put in my car. For some reason i just dont like all the painted valve covers i've seen so far....it looks nice i just wouldnt do it to mine yet. Also, its hard to find a color that goes with maroon too.

RobT5580
01-21-2004, 05:06 PM
Yeah maroon is not my color choice unfortuanly i have two maroon coupes one will be white someday. You could do white or yellow for maroon but i dont care for yellow. I powdercoated a white A20A3 valve cover and it didnt look bad but most people probably wouldnt want white under the hood.

i painted my calipers/drums yellow and i got a TON of shit for painting it that color. As for the valve cover, i think i'm just gonna redo it black with that 'crinkle' paint. I'll be different and paint it black..... :D
