hey guys, i wanted to start this thread so we hatchback owners could discuss and help eachother about our options. ive seen a thread where someone put an integra back end on a hatchie but i dunno if thats the way id go. as far as ive searched there are no companies that make a full kit for the hatch. this is a thread open to all suggestions and ideas.

-Exterior Dimensions-
Wheelbase (in): 102.4
Length (in.): 174.8
Width (in.): 66.7
Height (in.): 52.6

i picked up these dimensions from a post by 1988maxima. maybe someone with more knowledge of cars in general could use these to figure out what cars might be suitable donors to ours.

my plan is just to get a 88-89 sedan bumper, because they dont tuck under as far.

then i will add a nice lip. and i will hollow the whole bumper out and put some nice thick mesh in there and paint it all up... thats my plan... looks stock but agressive and looks good.

yah, body kits for the hatch are a waste of time

I don't know... some of them look really good with kits. But in the case of yours, and a couple others I have seen, a body kit is not necessary for a good looking car. But IMO, the sedans and coupes look a lot better with a kit on them. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, not a hatchie man myself, but if it does it for ya. If you can pull it off (you all know the guys on the board with cars like this) the hatchies look damn sexy, as long as they dont have maroon/yellow interior :D, lol

here's the deal:
Front:
90-93 Integra Kits with Some Mods
86-89 Accord Kits

Sides:
86-89 Accord Coupes
90-93 Accord Coupes with some mods

Rear:
Possibly the 1st Gen Teg Kits

thats a nice one.. not too much, just the right amount of "sock" for me :) but the one on the aerodeck rulez all minus the back

k-roy
01-20-2004, 08:35 AM
Thats an Aerodeck. That kit is from Europe. If you do some serious searching you can find out about it on the board The rear bumper will not fit the hatches without some custom work. The side skirts and front cover should work fine.

My personal favorite that is made for the 3g's is really the erebuni so I'm a bit biased. That other kit looks a bit to "pinched" for me.

01-20-2004, 01:46 PM
argh! yeah i dont exactly spellcheck my posts loll

yeah it looks stock and good hostile... u know i still kinda want that bumper. but im torn up cause i cant decide between that one or the 88-89 route. yours already matches my cars color! ;)

pm for the going price of that one.. (i deleted all the pms i think)

Yeah I have only seen the three companies provided by the guys on this web sight for body kits only problem is they are for standard 2 door coups. I want to get that Xenon Body kit next year but not sure if it'll work on my 88 accord dx hatchback. Any tips ?

I know this is an old thread but will always be an active topic,I just modified the front bumper a lot as far as the grill and lowering the emblem into the upper grill, with the front all blacked out and the lights it looks agressive in a rally car sort of way, without realy changing the lines of the car too much. i just need to find my lip to put on there. the only thing i need to find are side skirts,I'm going to make a rear lip for the back, agressive yet subtle. in other words something the factory might have run on a factory race car. I already have made the euro fogs in the rear bumper,it just needs the lip. I really would like to find the side skirts, I had put a request on here before to see if anyone remembers the minivan that had the side skirts that fit the hatch. I don't want the tapered ones, but the straight ones. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b205/moultriemanicmechanic/finishedbumper001.jpg

But that's what I'm shooting for. =x
Going to go ahead and even out my hood, make a plate to replace the old grille hole (Have no grille now), and get an integra bumper.
Just an idea for others.don't know if thats good or bad,I can get some more pics if it helps, they are all under the thread progress on the front bumper, also on my car domain site

I like those but the ones from 87lxir look better with the side moldings on the car, since you don't have side moldings they move the focus of the car down which works good with your style you are using. props on all the work on that one.

i love the one from hondaman87 but don't like the one from 87lxir... They don't look to fit on the car. You can see space between sideskirt and the body of the car.

I hope this is a better pic of how it fits the car. I havent fully finishd installing them i just need to put the back portion on. I like them becausethey sit flush with the bottom of the door.

Plus they're dirt cheap I got them for 20 bucks at a junk yard it fits perfect and the measurements are nearly identicle to our cars. All you need to do a put the rail it came with off its original car and either drill or rivit the rails onto the bottom of the door and mount the side skirts. They're made of polyurathane not cheap ass fiberglass. They came of an 89' Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe heres how they look on that car. www.abmustang.com/ss89tbsc.htm (http://www.abmustang.com/ss89tbsc.htm) They camewith another version that are ricier but i liked these better. I also think that the side skirts off a Chevy Z26 Berreta might fit on our cars in case someone wants to check.

good find.ya it won't take much to make those fit flush,I had to think super coupe? then I remembered thunderbird sc.duh!! ya thats what i'm fixin to look for,i like he nice clean straight style,it matches the side moldings,if you look at a cross section of the thinderbird, look at the shape of the window and compare it to the accord. wierd huh? almost an accord with a long trunk.did you look at the back bumper closely? does that bottom section come off it seperate? or is it molded together? i bet that bottom piece with the vent could be modded to fit the rear bumper even if it was sawzalled off.

I'm going to go for the thunderbird ones because it's an eighties look and i want to keep my car looking eighties.

Hey, whussup
I had body kit on my hatch, I used Integra 90-93 body kit, Spyder style. The rear fit almost perfectly. All dimensions and sizes were perfect. the problem was that it had 2 exhaust outlets and that they were not even close to the stock location, so i had to reweld the muffler about 2 inches down and 2 inches to the side. i just don't remember if i bought sedan or coupe version kit. you can see it on picture
http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/4/web/532000-532999/532384_13_full.jpg
the front was worse fit than rear, but some people here have 90-93 teg front bumpers here, and they say it fits perfectly. i had to cut the center piece, the one that is between headilghts on teg. also i had to trim somwe on the inner side and drill holes and make brackets. never achieved perfection i wanted but was good enough.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/532000-532999/532384_22_full.jpg
the sides never fit right, i just used screws to put it on, and it never was even close to a good fit, you can use some other sideskirts for that.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/532000-532999/532384_25_full.jpg
don't mind the 4x4 wheel gaps, i lowered it later.
here is the page to see more pics, i didn't update it for long time though
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/532384

I still have front and rear bumpers at home, i hit them and fixed them later with fiberglass. its solid and will not break easily. I will sell it if anyone wants it. BTW, it has to be repainted because it was white, but not stock white and you will need to sand the paint off, since its no good.

It's really hard to put a lip on the back when you have a trailer hitch, but this is a working car. I just wanted to make the front look different because it needs square lines, the round body kits just don't look right. so i put a bunch of work into the stock bumper

yeah the side skirts off an SC will fit but that doesnt mean you dont have to mod. Dont worry its an easy one all you really got to do to make it fit is cut about 3-4 innches of the front portion of the side skirt( the part that begins from the fender to the end of the door) and about another 3-4 inches of the back part( the small piece directly behind the door) its a two piece set and its fairly easy to make them fit. As with the twhonza and L3G10N (props by the way you guys:rockon: ) who put bodykits that were never intended for our cars, its not an exact fit (pretty close with the t-bird though) and may require some mods (major or minor) to fit. the reason i recomend them is their dirt cheap and only requir minor cutting to make fit. It may be hard find a pair but for twenty bucks you cant complain. As for aftermarket kits for t-birds im pretty sure theyl fit but may require a little more work and $$$. But you might find a t-bird with that erebuni kit at the junk yard cause i saw one when i got the ones off the SC. So if youre looking for cheap quality sideskirts(theyre made out of polyurathane) i recomend the ones off the SC.

Mine took very few mods to fit. The side skirts had to be extended about a inch and the rear bumper had to be cut a little other than it its a really close fit. The front bumper was a exact fit.

89LXiR, you should have taken the door piece off the SC, as well. It would have filled that large recessed area on your door. As for other thunderbird body kits, any 89-95 side skirt should work fine (they didn't change anything on the door panel from 89-95). In 96 they added some body cladding to the door, so side skirts are made to fit around that and would require some sort of filler if you were to use 96/97 side skirts on the Accord.

Personally I like the Wings West kit the best for the 96/97 Bird, but like I said, it may require some sort of filler to match up to the Accord if you were to use it. You can see the lower body cladding that I was talking about in this picture of the Wings West kit.
