Its a holiday so I am bored.
He are some basic tools that you will need to work on your car. I have more, but these are just the basics. You don't have to go out and buy them all at once, I baught them as I went along.

Screwdrivers

This is the Basic Crtaftsman set. $30

Wrenches

This is a 8 Piece metric set, a must for everyone. $60

Pliars, Metal File, Magnetic tool Pickup, Bolt Extractors.

The Pliars are pretty basic and are used for wiring. $10
Metal File - not really basic but it comes in handy $5
magnetic tool pickup - Kickass for finding droped bolts or tools. $8
These bolt ectractors are kinda hard to see. They have sharpened edges on the inside that cut into a stripped bolt. $25 a set

Ratchets

Three main sizes. 1/2" Drive, 3/8" drive and 1/4' drive

These are pliars that are pretty good. $40

Hammer And Boxcutter

Self Explanitory. Hammer $20. Boccutter $8

Tire Guage and feeler gauge.

Digital Tire Gauge $20
Feeler gauge for fine adjustments like the valves $6

Torque Wrench, Rubber Mallett and Battery Post cleaner

Sometimes a hammer can be too hard so a mallett is needed. $15
Torque Wrench. HIGHLY reccomended to apply the proper torque to bolts. This is the cheapie one. I plan on getting a better one soon. $40
The battery cleaner scrapes off the outside layer of a bettery post and the inside of the cable ends. This will cure some annoying electrical and starting issues. $8

Vise Grips

These are not nessasary but kick some major ass. They lock onto anything. $65

Buffer/Sander.

This is Needed for sanding/buffing and polishing. It is speed adjustable. Remember take it light and let the tool do the job. There are countless pads and discs available. $100

4 Way Lug Wrench
Shop Light

THe shop light is great for working at night or in a odd location. $15
Lug wrench. You car should have the one in the trunk with the emergency jack. I like this one because it works with just about any vehicle and you can get some more torque behind it. $15

Cutter and Prybar.

The cutter is good for wires, plastic, vinyl hoses etc... $10
Prybar - sometimes it can be a big help and save you from breaking a screwdriver. Good on removing a driveshaft from a tranny. $6

Jack and Jackstand

DON'T trust the emergency jack in your trunk to do anything more than changing a tire. Jack plus 2 jackstands $50.

Toolbox

There are a few things I left out but there are the basic hand tools for working on your Honda. A tool will treat you as good as you treat it. Keep them clean for safetys sake, plus you can inspect them for cracks or brakes while you are at it. Stay away from cheap tools, they usually have a crappy warrenty and can break and possibly hurt you or damage what you are working on. I like Craftsman, all hand tools have a lifetime no questions asked warrenty nationwide. A couple good brands are Mac and Snap-On, but you pay a lot more for them.

I noticed the board had nothing like this, I hope it gets a sticky.
If this goes over well I will make some more articles to add to the site.

Oh no.... Now I will have to show off my tools and tool box at school. I'm bringing the digi cam to school now. I'll take pics with the drawers closed and open. I've got too many tools to show them in each set. I also have a 75pc craftsman socket set in my car and a tool box full of vairous tools in addition to the ones at school. (I've been waiting to show off my tool box anyways.) Who's got a mini fridge in their tool box? Hmm... I guess you will see. :cool2:

No I didn't want to turn this into a contest I have just been wanting to show off my tool setup that I have at school. And I've only been really buying tools like major purchases since the begining of this fall and I have spent about $4000 already. And kroy I wasn't going to show you the stuff at my school just the stuff I own. I don't know if I can take pics inside the Pepsi plant or I might be shot on the spot.

Ok I don't own a breaker bar. I know I know. I have a rusty pipe for that but I left it at home when I moved. I'll get a breaker bar when I need it next. WD40 is shit anyways.

And for air tools. I live in an apt and don't want the hassel. When I live in a house I will work on them. Im just trying to show the basics anyways. A regular socket set works just fine.

I bought an old Nissan Pick-up a while back, and as I was taking ownership I saw the owner had left a bent screw driver, duct tape, JBWeld, and a small spool of wire in a small box behind the seat. I asked him if he wanted it before I left and he told me to keep it as it was all I would need to keep the truck running. Untill then I thought that was just an old redneck joke.

i was changing the brake's on my car and the bolt that hold's the caliper when u lift it up broke.
murray's did'nt have it, this other shop had one for an se-i, but for $50!
i went to the junkyard there was one sprayed that stuff waited a few minute's and bolt came off easy,
tha jack situation does come in handy.

I guess you were board.....The bad thing about tools is you never have enough. I would say i have a lot of tools but there will always be something you dont have. Nevermind the fact that storage is an issue. My friend has his own shop and no joke he has two full size snap on boxes and like 5 of those stackable Craftsman set ups. I was at his shop working on my other car a few weeks ago and he has every two full size drawers just for sockets he has every type imaginable and one drawer of metric and one std.

But if your going to buy tools to work on your car buy something decent cause cheap tools just dont work.

sometimes that doesnt work and you need the oil filter socket. Friend's supra was a bitch do with the strap one, needed the socket.

I use the large vise grips for oil filters, they work a lot better.
Actually I don't even own a filter wrench. I only buy K&N filters that have a 1" bolt on the end.
I like quality and don't mind paying extra for the good stuff.

I'll search for a pic of a strap wrench, filter socket, zip ties and the ever nessasary duct tape and add it to the list.

HEHE Thanks Caleb. I may have to go out and take some pictures and post them up. I need to round up all the misc snap-on stuff I pulled out of the bottom drawer and cut some foam in a few drawers so they have a place.

The bottom left drawer was overflowing with spare snap-on stuff so i just dumped it all on the garage floor for right now

Thats a nice box i want to get a large bottom roll away but the one i want is more than i paid for my car.... But im going to have to do something because im out of storage and i keep on getting new tools.

One big advantage I had was that snap-on and mac both came out to the airport once a week and would let you set up "on truck" accounts so you just paid them weekly or every other week. They knew where you worked and who you worked for so if there was ever a problem with people not paying they could resolve it. I need to sell my yellow one so I can get the bigger one, I think its the third one I've had since i got out of the Air Force and started in Commercial Aviation in 2000. All the drawers are foamed and all the tools are cut/shadowed in the foam (except for all the new stuff and stuff I never use) I've got some wild ass tools that I'll show off when I get around to taking pictures

Dude that box is insane! I've got a Kennedy 12 drawer box on top of a 6 drawer rolling cart. I bought it for $200 from a broke mechanic. Kennedy make really nice boxes. They have wrinkle finishes just like the b-series VTEC valve covers. It holds every tool I need to work on just about anything. I've got a bunch more tools than my box can handle, they're mainly just doubles and triples of the parts I've already got in my rolling cart. I've got them organized in other tool boxes that I've aquired over the years. Plus I've got another big box just for odd specialty tools that I use once in a blue moon. Things like wheel pullers, cylinder hone, tube flaring kit, etc.

I know some guys at Audi that bought new boxes every year for around 5k a pop. The younger guys liked it cause they got the old ones dirt cheap. But they are worth the money i was looking at the craftsman junk and they just dont do it and are overpriced for the proffessional ones. I wish i grabbed one during the 5yrs i worked at their parts/service dept cause if you catch them when they put the new stuff out they sell them for nothing. I got my Sony Via laptop for $50 brand new demo but that was by simply luck. Oh well i will have to break down and spend the money sometime. Nice boxes guys!
