my little brother has a little 84, and he wants headers and intake now...

i am assuming our headers will fit, but for intake i told him to just get some webbers... any suggestions for wringing a little more power out of this old car?

If its that old and you just want more power out of it dont spend the money on intake and exhaust!

Run a 50 shot of nitrous. The A18 engines are very strong and should be able to take a 50 shot as long as there is nothing major wrong with it!

YOu can get a good NOS kit for about 450 CAD. Spray the A18 until it dies and then just get a new one and drop it in! They are dime a dozen!

lol thanks for the suggestions but i am pretty sure he doesnt wnat to spray it...

i wouldnt trust a 450CAD nitrous kit.... its like running a 12:1 fmu on a car running 20psi... just not wise...

NOS OWNZ. make sure it is a wet kit. But yea a header and a weber is a good idea. Ghetto engineer a CAI and then cut the springs, get some cheap $10 Limo tint and some stickers. Should be good for hours of fun. Oh yea, don't forget the wing!

nah... i was thinking either start work on the a18 like header and weber and shit. OR find a low miles a20a1 and swap it in there, and then start adding shit like cam header weber and exhaust... the problem is he doesnt have any money and i dont think he wants to spend a lot of time.. lol i should sell him an electric supercharger...

I thought the 84 had a CVCC motor???
The 83 I worked on had one and it was the same generation.

according to Accord Ex's site
http://www.geocities.com/honda_club_egypt/engines.htm
the 83 Has a EK1
I was wrong its not a CVCC.
Good luck finding a header for that. Its a really weird design. Lookup the user itspaidfor. He has posted some pics of his 83 Accord, definitly not an A engine.

well start with the intake, then take some measurment too see if the A20 exhaust will fit on it. Remove emissions BS and a Webber if you can find one for cheap. Pretty much all the basics you can think of.

bit weird you definately sure the block has A18A1 on it? A18 were mainly used on preludes and also they only introduced the A/B/D series coding in 86 when honda standardized a lot of engine parts. so your engines gone three years back to the past! maybe someones swapped it in from a lude, also what kinda carbs are on the engine two sidedraughts or one downdraught?

I think the engine in there should bear the name ES or ET. It's an 1.8 liter engine though, just not sure it's an A series

Guys, the 82-83 have different engines from 84-85.. An A20A can fit in the 84-85 without problem... not like the 82-83

So it would stand to reason that an A18 would as well correct? :)

I have an 84 too. None of my mods have cost anything really. I am pretty sure the 3g headers wont work. A weber is an idea ive been mulling over for a long time now. I would do it if i had more money, or if i was planning on keeping the car forever. Anyway, here are some ideas:

1. Remove some vacuum lines (egr valve, cruise, a/c, ect) and cap them off. Dont use the 3g 'how to' on removing vacuum lines, it wont work.
2. Hollow out the cat
3. Do the Civic adaptor thing, like everyone did for the 3g awhile back. youll have to cut the holes different, but it shouldnt be that hard.
4. Do the weber 32/36 thing. You can even buy a CAI adaptor for the weber too.
5. Weight reduction
6. New coil / ignition / plugs / cap / rotor.

I just read through everything and realized its all pretty basic / stupid stuff. I am sure you can find headers for the 2g, youll just have to look hard. Best of luck.
