this IS a 94-97 accord CAI from ebay. cost 48 shipped...

only modifications were to open up the hole into the bumper, done with a dremel and pliers, and to chop about 3" off the end of the pipe so the filter could fit. otherwise it would be touching the ground. last but not least i had to cut about 1" off the left side of my battery tray hold down... this is because the pipe was too large...

total time to install was about 2hrs with time spent cutting... it is VERY tight and we had to push the CAI out of the way to drop the battery in, but the battery is in the stock spot just fine. (eventually i will do a relocation kit and throw that bitch in the back. ;)

enjoy. it IS possible to do the 94-97 accord CAI mod. this is proof

i still have to drill out the 2 holes into the intake for some hoses, but the car runs fine without them, so im not too worried, they never got filtered air in the stock setup, so im not worried about them now...

also i am gonna paint the whole thing silver or black one i get everything cleaned up in there! i cant stand the red....

I agree, red and blue go well together. Get a little yellow in there for the "superman" look.
Good work!

hahah red and blue just doesnt do it for me... plus the whole engine bay is filthy.. :(

anyway heres the important part

performance review:
1st gear definetly can feel the power. tires spin if i floor it from a stop, need to launch at even lower rpms to control wheel spin. 1st gear is done in a flash... any shorter and i would be scared.

2nd gear feels about the same in lower rpms, but from about 3500+ it pulls a lot harder than it did with short ram intake... easily noticable... 2nd gear at 6000rpm WOT thru a tunnel and i almost had to clean my pants...

3rd gear: normally kind of pathetic, but after 4000 it really does pull hard all the way to 6000 or so where i shiftted (felt bad rubbing redline in 1st so i took it easy)... anyway 3rd gear at 70-75 mph i can see this being a much more enjoyable passing gear now...

4th and 5th doesnt matter cause i didnt go fast enough in these gears to get into the power... but im sure if i ever WANTED to go 100MPH plus 4th would start to pull nicely. but i dont want a ticket. ;)

hope this inspires u guys to do this mod, it was REALLY worth it. maybe i will write up an official how to when we do it on ambers car!

only one thing.
everything depends on
how big is Your battery :-)
as we all know, it can be small, bigger, and big....
and Im not talking bout Ah
:-) so If You have small battery and Fi go for it

bobafett

my battery isnt a small one... but u might need to do some rearranging with an optima... i think this is a stock sized battery though...

Yeah, nice work. Were there any doubts as to whether it would fit, I never really thought about it, but had I htought about it, I wouldn't have doubted it was possible. Looks nice though. I am just gonna get mine done at a muffler shop, but that looks super mint :D. GOOD WORK!

PS: Optimas would be REALLY easy to put someplace else. They can be turned upside down, and still function normally, due to the coil and gel technology.

CAI looks really good, I plan on doing one on my car soon, and I am not debating a teg intake or accord one.

Relocating a battery to the trunk is still a pain in the ass!

lookin good chris. i'm starting to get an idea of what i want to do between the time i have the n/a motor in and when i get my turbo in.....

bobafett
01-19-2004, 11:00 PM
i was just gonna do CAI and cam before i start the turbo project. new light on the turbo project though, and i might just have to start buying up those parts before the cam....

i still have to finish removing all the sound deadending stuff, and dust it all out, but this is what the hatch is looking like now... i am going to add the rear seats again just for function, but i like it like this. ;)

shane_lxi
01-19-2004, 11:12 PM
NO! Don't put the seats back in! Custom mold yourself a formfitting sub box. My sisters bf has one in the back of his civic hatch, and it is mint. Holds 4 12" subs, he has shattered two back hatch windows with it :D (I talk about his civic WAY too much :D lol, not a healthy habit lol) I want to get pics of it next time I see it.

bobafett
01-19-2004, 11:15 PM
yeah thats another option, but i could also put the sub box a little further back and have seats... i dont know. i am gonna get tint first before i buy any more stereo stuff. ;)

I'm thinking about ripping out my back seats and shiz.......less weight and looks alot better. R U going to put carpet over the whole back to clean it up a little?

bobafett
01-20-2004, 01:37 AM
i am gonna paint the whole interior flat/satin black. and i was considering some type of rhino lining type material just to clean it all up.. maybe a fiberglass removable shell. so it looks good, and i store stuff more practially. but really easy to remove for when i am at the track...

NXRacer
01-20-2004, 08:04 AM
if you were to rhino line it, it would cut down the noise CONSIDERABLY. Its not that heavy if you were to get a thin coat.....it would be a helluva lot lighter then FG.

that looks awsome Chris. hm....... i wish i could have bought that thing.

ANyway, Is it me or does the pipe joining the TB seem a little offset towards the firewall? :bandit:

My fellow 3g clan member, thanks for the update and info on the CAI.
Please go ahead and do the "How To" for the rest of the Clan.
All mods need to be posted to get everyone enthused to do all the mods possible.
Thanks again,
NSWST8

The intake looks good. The only thing I was wondering about rhino lining the back. What happens if you need to replace your struts?

bobafett
01-20-2004, 11:32 AM
smufguy: yes the pipe IS tilted a little, that is just because its such a tight fit. the picture makes it look worse that it really is, but it is SLIGHTLY cocked back like that, its what I had to do to make the battery fit, but everything is so tight in there now I know nothing is moving. ;)

steve: i havent thought the whole rhino lining thing thru yet. i think it has potential to be a good idea, but i will need to keep in mind that if i do that i will never have access to any of the wires or lines back there, which is a very scary thought...

but i can deal with the noise, i like loud cars... heheh

It's tilted....because it's not made for our cars.......Don't worry about it, it looks fine!
