View Full Version : Oil Change

Well, today I forced myself to go into the frigid wilderness, and change my oil.

What fun this was, as I've never changed my oil with numb hands before.

At least my A20A3 is enjoying some Castrol GTX and a Bosch filter. :D

Tomorrows adventures include Coolant flush and fill, PCV valve change, and hopefully Transmission fluid change as well. I'll have to have somebody drive my car into town and back however, since house arrest sucks balls and I can't do it myself.

Stay tuned for more 3G regular service in a 3geez.com post near you.

Smoking the herb:bong: It's the biggest bullshit in the world though, they told me I couldn't go outside without the "box" going off. Of course I had to temp fate and go outside, and eventually out to my car. Still no trouble. So I figure, fuck it, if I have to go to school and come home, why not give the 3G all the love that I can since I can't go anywhere or do anything else. :D

I know right. I don't smoke crack, or bang smack, but I still get put on house arrest. And the worst part of all of it is, they're trying to send me to a damn rehab. What the shit is that!?

Tell them that you'll go just as soon as the former president Bill Clinton who admitted to using the wacky tobaccy goes too.
Just my two cents worth.

Weed is illegal and alcohol isn't. Which one has caused the most suffering, disease, and broken relationships throughout history? Go figure our screwed up society.

BTW, I am not for banning either. People have to make their beds and lie in them. That's why God gave us free will, so we wouldn't become a bunch of mindless sheep.

It's Maryland...

Exactly zero...stupid-ass Maryland. I hate this state; with a passion. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've been caught. The police in my town hate me, constantly harass me, and profiled me as a drug dealer long before I ever got arrested my second time. They were just waiting for me to slip up, and we all make mistakes and I made mine.

I made my bed and now I have to lie in it.

Damn PCV valve! :rant2: It's so inconviently located...looks like I'm gonna have to remove some hoses out of the way to get to it. What really sucks is that the hose going to it is 'bonded' to it, making it a real bitch to try and remove the hose. I hate the OEM clamps!

A qusetion however, is the valve threaded into the manifold, or does it just slip out?

Thanks.

Thanks for the help anyway Kroy, but you're usually right so my valve probably just pops out as well.

Any PGM-FI guys out there that have replaced the valve on their 3G?

Thanks.

There is a post in the faq about the valve.

I've seen that thread before but I didn't remember seeing that part that says, "The valve may be hard to pull out so don't be afraid of using some strength."

:uh:

Awesome, now I know what the deal is. I'll get working on this as soon as the temperature comes up above freezing. :D

Here is what I did I took the hose off the intake manifold then I pulled up hella hard and it came out.

Thanks for the advice starter, I'll try that tomorrow when I change the valve. I also have to tighten my loose firewall engine brace...

Besides that, Mobil 1 tranny oil is expensive...but I must have it. :)

I only use lucas and mobil 1 in my engine and only lucas and honda MTF in the tranny

I use Castrol GTX High Mileage 10W-30 for the time being, I absolutely LOVE Mobil 1, best oil there is, but I don't justify putting $5 a quart oil in my car until it fix the leak.

As for the tranny, I have an auto, and after discovering the 50/50 mix of Mobil 1 and B&M Trick Shift like A20A1, it's all I use. Definetly better tranny response and acceleration on this mix too. I highly recommend it to people with auto transmissions.

Well, out into the frigid environment again I went. -4 degrees out with the wind chill. I removed my useless condensor from in front of the radiator.

I'll be removing the compresser(which is a Keihn anyway) and the evaporator and the dryer when it gets warmer out.

I still have to replace my PCV valve, tighten the firewall engine brace, and change my transmission oil. Probably should flush and fill the cooling system as well while I'm at it...

Change your tranny oil when it is warmed up to operating temperature.
You might not have to replace the pcv valve, I clean mine out with carb cleaner every time I do an oil change. The way to check if it is good or not is put a paper towel over the end, then blow, and then blow on the other end. It should only flow air in one direction.
Oh yea, the A/C compressor bracket is pretty heavy, but is kinda a bitch to get out.
