Tranny Fluid???

Having a new tranny put into my 89, and the dude at the wrecker said to put 10w30 in the tranny. Does this sound right? I'm fairly sure I've heard the same thing before, however, my friend who is putting the tranny in thinks this is wrong.

Some help on what fluid should go into a 5 speed tranny would be appreciated as it's going in tomorrow. Thanks.

5 speed should only use 10w-40 or 10w-30 motor oil. using anything else will damage the tranny.

yea I use 10W-40, you can use 20W-50 or 30W if you do a lot of high reving/racing.

I alaways suggest the same mix 1 bottle lucas tranny fluid and the rest all honda MTF
but if you don't want to use lucas go all honda MTF

I will only use Honda MTF and maybe lucas with it.
